Start11 Pinned Taskbar Icons Disappear

Problem:
After the system is up for a period of time, in the home monitor but not the others (my system has 4 monitors) the taskbar will get confused.  An example, in the home window if I right click on Windows Outlook it will come up with SQL Server Mgt Studio.  If I right click on the same icon in one of the other monitors, it will be correct for Outlook.  In the home monitor, going further right from the first icon that is wrong, the next one is correct, but subsequent icons going right appear to have skipped over several other pinned icons.  Some icons, right clicking will give a right click context menu you'd expect from Explorer clicking on a file rather than the taskbar.  These will also not show a peek thumbnail.  Some will still show the thumbnail and an appropriate context menu for the taskbar.   Again, this appears to only happen in the home monitor, the other three work as it should.

Windows 11 Enterprise 22H23
Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621
Start11 2.07
Autohide not enabled
Taskbar on bottom - default

I'm also running Fences on this machine, but there are no other apps that I'm aware of that modify the taskbar/explorer basic behavior.  I do have some apps that add context menu items to Explorer (Tortoise Git, VIM), but those do not otherwise modify basic explorer display/behavior.

I have some screen shots demonstrating the behavior, but didn't see a way to attach them to this post.

I can get the problem to go away by going into taskmanager and having explorer restart.  Once explorer/start11 reload, the problem goes away for a while.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information/details:

  1. You mentioned "System up for a period of time", this usually mean, hours, days, weeks?
  2. Can you easily recreate the issue after you done the restart Explorer.exe cycle?

You can add screenshot by clicking either one of these two icons to add an image.

Thank you.

1. Days typically.  In this case, the last reboot before the problem was 4/22 and the problem happened today 4/25.

2. I'm not aware of any particular way to cause the problem to occur.  I just happen to notice it from time to time when I go to find an open one of my pinned apps and it opens the wrong thing or looking for a peek window for open apps and no peek pops up.  It doesn't generally happen immediately after reboot, but I haven't really measured it happening as it's just every now and again.

Had to use the phone camera for some of them as the snipping tool was not able to capture the context menu...

Taskbar across all monitors:

Taskbar shown on all monitors

Home Monitor, right-click, context menu should be Outlook, but shows SQL Server Mgt Studio which is on the far right of this clip...

Home monitor - right click - context should be Outlook

Non-home monitor, right-click, context menu for Outlook correct.  Not sure why the image was rotated.

Non-home monitor right-click on Outlook correct context

Home monitor - right-click on Visual Studio gives Explorer style context menu:

While the context menu isn't what I would expect for a pinned app, it is the correct app.  If I click Open at the top, it does actually open Visual Studio.

Hello gt2847c,

Please follow these steps to purge/completely-remove your current installation:

https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1349320730/Start+Menu+purging+and+re-installing

Make sure you reboot once removed.

Once booted back up, see if your issue reproduces this from a clean install through your account's download page:

https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/

If the bug does keep occurring, I wonder if you might be able capture video of it and upload it to cloud drive service of your choice (DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube, etc).  Please reply with a shared link here if so.

Purged, rebooted, and reinstalled from ObjectDesktop (assuming that's equivalent to myaccount).  If the bug reoccurs, I'll attempt to grab captures.

The problem has reoccurred.
End of gt2847c's quote

As we haven't been able to reproduce the issue, I'd suggest the next step would be for you to install and check again after performing a Clean Boot.

The hope would be that this would work, and then help you identify if there's something else you have installed or configured in Windows that is causing the interference.
