Start11 - Color & Text Squish Question

Hey,

First off, thank you for a great product.

Recently started using the Windows 10 style menu, which I enjoy. However there's two things that annoy me currently, that may just be me not knowing how to configure properly.

1) When working with group tabs, why don't they just naturally inherit the rest of the start menu's color and transparency? They get a lighter colour and no transparency and then you have to faff about getting it set up. When I manually set the RGB value to match the rest of the icons background tint, it still doesn't inherent transparency in the same manner, so if there's something behind it, it still stands out. Am I doing something wrong here? I just want the background colors and transparency to work like every other icon, just in tabbed form.

2) Is it possible to change the aggressive consolidation text squish? The current group width of '6 small icons wide' works for me. However, if I have 4 group tabs, despite there being loads of room for the text, it consolidates them and makes it look a mess;

Plenty of room for a fourth tab without having to squish the text;

Add a tab called "Simbrief" and it does an aggressive squish;

I know there's a little 'options menu' in that space, hidden but is it possible to actually be allowed to use that space?

Thanks

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried this setting?

Also, you should able to have larger group widths by changing this setting

Thanks

Hej basj,

Appreciate your reply. Unfortunately that setting doesn't help with the initial setup. None of the presented colours match the other non-tabbed icons, the transparency setting doesn't match. I had to open the picture in photoshop and find the correct RGB values to match the colours of the other icons, to get the correct tone. It just doesn't make sense to me why it's this difficult to match tones and transparency setting, and why it would be so different from the already established colours that Start11 has selected.

Alas, I have manually dialed it in and selected the setting you've shown me, so that should not be an issue from here on out. Thank you.

As for the second issue, I'd rather not use anything more than 6, it widens the entire start menu and ruins the look I have established. I was just hoping for a way to use the unused space for text, instead of it leaving it empty and squishing all the text -- Perhaps a feature suggestion for a future update? O:)

If you put your mouse over the tabs edge there is 3 icons there. Which only show up when you mouse over that area. So those empty area you mentioned is not really empty. As for the cutoff text you can adjust the Tabs font face and size to make it smaller and fit your tab title area. Refer screenshot below.

Thank you,
