Start 11 does not load on windows 11 startup

All of a sudden when my Windows 11 starts, Start 11 no longer loads up.  I have to restart Windows and then Start 11 loads normally.

My version is 1.5 but when I click on check for updates it says I have the current version.  But I noticed on Start 11 website the latest version is higher (I believe 2.xx)

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.

First, the "Start11 not starting" issue. And, you said when you restart Windows Start11 loaded normally. Does the problem appear again after that?

Second, yes, there is Start11 v2 released somewhere in late 2023. But, it is not an update, it is an upgrade. To know more please refer here: https://forums.stardock.com/523474/start11-v2-upgrade-faq

Thanks for your prompt reply.

First my second question - thanks for that info on the "Upgrade"

Regarding my first and most important issue - YES, the problem repeats itself again every time I first start up for the day.

Please try this, uninstall Start11v1. Reboot immediately after uninstall finished. Re-download latest Start11v1 available. Install it, reboot immediately after installation done. Retest and report back.

I have completed your suggestions, so now I will test it out over the next day or two and report back then.

Thank you

Over two days I have shut down and started back up my PC about 4 - 6 times and all was OK.  But this morning it reverted back to not loading Start 11.

Anything changed yesterday before you boot this morning? Windows update, Driver update, System wide cleaning service which might have change something. Also check if "Start11" listed and running in your task manager "Processes" tab. Something like screenshot below.

After 4 or 5 times of starting up my PC all worked except just now as I booted up this afternoon and Start 11 did not load.

I have two captured screenshots - one when it did not load and the other after I restarted the PC and it did load.

Not able to add it here so I have given a link...

go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Start11
Right click and drag "Start11 exe (for 32 bit only or 64bit) or Start11_64 exe( for 64 bit only) both work and have no difference on 64 bit windows." to the desktop and select create shortcut here.
Right click that new shortcut icon and go properties
Highlight the "Target:" window text and copy it.

click window start icon bottom left and type regedit to load regedit
On the top highlight the text "Computer" in the clear box to paste a path
Paste this path and hit enter

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

In the bit white area middle rightish side right click and click New > String Value
Rename the automatic highlighted New Value name to Start11
Double click it and change the Value Data line to the copied "Target:" window text from your desktop shortcut with the " brackets on each side > click ok
Close regedit
Restart your PC

Notice:
This is forcing it to start using the registry.
Do no edit or change anything in the registry without knowing what you are doing as it can cause system instability if done wrong.
Regedit changes only apply after a restart

To check all startup i recommend using CCleaner > Tools > Startup

Why should I do some "harakiri" for the product I bought? Why doesn't it work? Can't you make a patch?

I don't understand, I'm not a Win guru, I'm just a regular user...

Make sure the Start11 service is set to start and not 'delayed'

Hi, I checked your suggestions. The solution for me is to go to task manager after windows start and restart file explorer.

Then Stardock11 starts as it should. That's it.

Thanks for the support, Roman
