Start 11 V2 taskbar icon background transparency Continuity

Sadly some app icons don't have transparent backgrounds so they look ugly if the taskbar background doesn't match theirs like this:

Windows 11 doesn't allow customizing the icon for windows apps, so i took the time to take each one create a shortcut, customize the shortcut icon, unpin the app from the taskbar and repin it from the customized shortcut. Sadly whenever there is a restart, or explorer/start11 restarts this resets please find the solution. I am ok working on each icon one by one. i don't expect you to do a magical ai background remover, but if possible to allow either customizing the pinned windows apps icon or at least to prevent the pinned shortcuts from resetting their icon when explorer is restarted.

To reset them, I unpin and repin from the shortcut I created.

Here is the taskbar with the transparent icons for comparison. It's a huge difference:

or maybe there is another way to do it I am missing, please let me know?

as a sidenote, you can see the pinned folder I have (rocket icon), there are 2 suggestions:

1. if there is room, the menu should launch aligned to the button that launched it in this case, the bottom left corner of the menu should be right above the rocket icon

2. Let me customize the menu background and highlight colors (or at least make it match the customized start 11 menu)

I am liking this pinned menu better than setting up fences since my fences are all lost on reinstall (even for system apps) and if I use plain folders instead I can link the fences to the folders which is much more sustainable since I only have to pin the root folder and all my shortcuts are back just like that.

Cheers

I'm not seeing this issue on my system. All the Windows Apps have transparent backgrounds.

How are you pinning those apps to the taskbar?

The only place I see Windows Apps with a blue background is in the Windows Settings>Installed Apps

and in the Applications folder "C:\Windows\explorer.exe Shell:AppsFolder"

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I don't see it on my system. You're referring to those icons with blue background like Clock, MS Paint, Calculator etc, yes? Refer screenshot below.

Unless, you was referring to something totally different. Need to know how you actually pin those applications to your taskbar. Also, best to include information such as.

  1. Windows 10/11 full version number. Use Winver.exe
  2. Start11v2 version number.

Thanks

Thank you. I did a clean windows install and the same for start 11 v2/fences/deskscapes, and everything seems to be ok now
