Folder Portal opacity doesn't go all the way to 0%

create a folder portal with these settings:

View: Details

View -> Opacity: 0% (Visible only on mouseover)

mouse away and the portal dims almost completely but still faintly visible

expected behavior - it should become completely invisible

edit - this is on Version 5.04

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Please update to Fences 5.05. Uninstall Fences 5.04, reboot immediately after uninstall finish. Download Fences v5.05 Beta. Reboot immediately again after installation finished. Test it and report back.

Thank you.

I can still repro after updating to 5.05 beta. I tested around and view mode doesn't matter, any portal just remains slightly visible at 0% opacity. Interestingly, taking a screenshot fails to capture this. Here's a video:

rolling up the folder does completely hide it, so it's probably not some kind of monitor/ghosting issue

at 0:28 I activated the screen snipping tool which caused the faintly visible folder portal to vanish completely

Windows10 Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.4170)

my desktop background is a solid color (black)

Hello,

I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Refer video below.

So it might be something else on your system. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Screens resolution And Windows Scale setting (100%, 125%, 200% etc)
  2. GPU spec and is the driver properly updated?
  3. Any other application also introduce overlays on your desktop area?

Thank you,

here's some more info on my system:

GPU: Intel ARC 770 16GB (Driver Version 31.0.101.5333)

Display: 3840 x 2160 120.000 Hz 10-bit RGB High dynamic range (HDR)

Scaling: 100%, "Let Windows try to fix apps so they're not blurry" is ON

Monitor: LG TV SSCR2

it's a single display setup, no multi-mon, no other software for overlays/etc.

interestingly if I try to use screen recording software the portal does not appear in the recording even though it is visible on my screen - I had to point a camera at my monitor to capture this bug! fwiw regular fences do not exhibit this behavior, it's only folder portals that remain visible at 0% opacity.

there's a driver update available for my GPU I will update my system and report back

edit: updated video driver had no effect. I tested around and it seems that enabling HDR may be a precondition - I wasn't able to see the portal at 0% w/HDR off.

I also tested on Fences v4.22 and it has the same issue

Hi, try turning off ¨Fade-in faded groups when mouse is over them¨ this worked for me.

You can find the setting under Personalization by scrolling all the way to the bottom.

Ps: I'm on Fences 6 Beta 1 so don't know if it works on any other version.
