Start11 Recent Documents clears itself out

I'm on version 2.06 on Windows 10, although this behavior came up on the previous version or two (I don't remember those versions).

Using the Windows App style version of Start11, I had the Show recent documents feature enabled. My list of recently used documents cleared itself after Start11 updated itself during the last couple of updates. I don't recall that issue ever occurring before.

I just disabled the feature since I can't rely on it anymore, but I thought I should report it.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know your full Windows 10 version. Use Winver.exe.

Thank you.

Recent documents simply shows what Windows has stored in the recent documents folder.

If this has been blanked then you probably have some other software on your computer set to clear that list for privacy reasons.

That doesn't appear to be the case here. My C:\Users\[user]\Recent folder displays 150 recent files, going back a couple of months.

One did test it here and could not reproduce it.  Can you readily reproduce it, meaning, you could have it showing recent, install 2.06 right over top 2.06, reboot, and it will happen?  Or no, something else needs to be the case for it to happen \ be seen?

I opened up two random files sat that they populate the Recent Documents section of the Start11 menu.

I then downloaded Start11 again, reinstalled and rebooted. Recent documents are still there.

So, perhaps there's something else not related to Start11?

The issue cropped up again today when I started my PC, a little over a month since my initial post. I do have a pending update for 2024-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5036892) which I opted not to install last night (the last time I saw the recent documents appearing in the Start menu).

When I install the update and reboot I'll report back with whether or not the recent documents populate.

Edit: The recent document section remained empty after updating Windows. Maybe there is some conflict between how that list is populated in Start11 and the presence of a Windows update. I don't know, just brainstorming here.

I have the same issue on version 2.08 of this issue.  I reported it in the feedback thread for that release but similar problem where it will show stuff I open then after a while it goes blank.  There is a ton of files in my recent list too.

This issue is still happening where there will be recent files/folders listed, and gradually, over time, it clears out.  Is there going to be a permanent fix for this?

Windows OS Build - 26120.3073 (Beta Channel)

Start 11 - 2.52

When I click the Start11 menu and click the Windows Menu link, the recent files show there, so I'm not sure why that one works, and this one clears itself out gradually, as shown in the screenshot.
