Start11: Right-click tab to delete it and it is not deleted

Right-click tab > Delete > Delete this tab => Start11 disappears; tab not deleted

When you right-click the tab (not the body of the tab) and select Delete > Delete this tab, the Start11 menu disappears, and the tab is not deleted. (There is also no confirmation prompt.)

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce this issue on my system. Please post a video of this issue so we can understand it and try to reproduce it.

Thanks

I also can not reproduce this on my Windows 11 system running Start11v2 - 2.0.5.3. However, I did notice that on the Windows App, Windows Pro, and Windows Launcher styles, there is a confirmation dialog. On the Windows 10 style there is no confirmation dialog. The Tab is just deleted.

I have recorded a video of the issue, but I do not see a way to attach a video to a reply. An image, yes, but not a video.

You have to upload it to a site like YouTube and be sure to make it public so we can view it.

Hello,

Thanks for the video, look like on your system the confirmation popup never came up.

Would like to suggest to do uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall done. Re-download latest version from your produce account page. Install it, reboot immediately again after installation finished. Retest is and report back.

Thank you,

That is correct. When it does not work, the confirmation dialog is not displayed. As you can see in the video, other times, the confirmation dialog IS displayed (and, if I confirm the delete, Start11 deletes the tab).

Does Stardock have an explanation for why reinstalling might fix this on-again/off-again issue which seems dependent on where in the tab I right-click?

It just to make sure that all files that need be install properly. Sometimes, user don't restart the system immediately, and which could cause strange issue. It is not 100% sure solutions. Just step one can take to iron out the causes.

Do you use any feature which might give focus to windows under the mouse automatically?  Sometimes called X mouse.

No, and when the issue occurs, the mouse stays over the Start11 window. Plus, as you can see in the video, sometimes Start11 does display the confirmation dialog.

I'm having the same issue. Did a complete re-installation after a complete clean-up, didn't help.

The same tab also doesn't show up when pinning items to the menu.

This issue still occurs--same as the posted video--even with v2.05 that dropped yesterday.

Interestingly, it actually works like it should if I have the Snipping Tool active to clip the issue. But it doesn't work under normal circumstances...

Updating to V2.05 fixed it for me.

I did a full clean re-install (uninstall, reboot, manually delete all remaining folders in %appdata% and program files, reboot, install). Maybe that helps?

The new version did introduce two new bugs though. V2 feels a bit undertested so far...

I've put them in https://forums.stardock.com/524118/page/1/#3919473. One has apparently already been put through to the Support Team, but I haven't had a response on the second issue yet.

By the looks of it something is causing focus to be taken away from the prompt for deletion.  This would explain the menu closing.

We cannot reproduce this here which is why I asked about X Mouse as that is designed to take focus away.

I don't think focus is being taken away. If it were, the message box be displayed momentarily, and I do not see it appear at all. Normally, message boxes are not dismissed when they lose focus, so Start11 must have some code watching for lost focus. Perhaps that code is being triggered accidentally. (Although, I think I'd still see the message box appear momentarily.)

Upon loss of focus those boxes will close, but the biggest clue is the startmenu itself is closing.  Which only happens when focus is lost to a window thats not a Start11 one.

Good point. I can only assure you (and I think you can tell from the video) that my mouse never moves off the Start11 window. Perhaps when focus moves to the message box, Start11 mistakenly thinks it's losing focus and closes?

Has anyone at Stardock been able to reproduce this issue? Will another video help?

Have you tried Start11v2.06 yet? It just release few hours ago.
