Start11 v2 not adding taskbar pins

I tried the 'Pin folder' and 'Pin folder menu' but start11 v2 (version 2.04) is not adding/pinning folder to my windows 11 taskbar. After I select a folder it shows a dialog box saying I can always unpin if needed and I click on the yes button to add the folder to taskbar but then nothing happens. The mouse cursor if I hover over the taskbar turns to an hourglass and I cannot select anything on taskbar. my computer is in this state forever. As if startmenu is trying to pin the folder but is taking forever to do it. At this point my only option to recover is to either sign out or restart my computer.
