Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know.

  1. Have you tried downloading the installer again from your product page? https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products.
  2. Do you have ESET AV installed in this system.
  3. Are you running on ARM base system?

Thanks

Your computer may still need to obtain some updates if this is a clean new install of Windows.

I would also reboot to see if Windows then grabs the root certificates update it needs.

I didn't tried the update way as I thought that it could have been a corrupt installer, so I grabbed a new one to get the same error, even with a restart.

Indeed, it is fresh out of the box W10 without anything installed but WB.

For information the error is "message -7, problem with core files" and my w10 info is... Damned, the file is empty... Sorry, I'll try again later.

You may want to try this suggestion I found on a earlier post from Neil Banfield...

"...If you right click on wb11config.exe and pick properties and then digital signatures you should see an error.  If you wait 10 mins and then reboot it may help."

Too bad I didn't read your publication before : I've uninstalled WB for the 2nd time.  ;.((

- I've wiped out my previous W10 installation.

- Installed a fresh copy, agreeing on everything.

- Installed all aupdates.

- Just set dark mode, mouse pointers to "big invertes" and computer/workgroup names.

- Few restart later, install WB => Baaammm "error with core files, error 7"

This windows 10 is such a piece of polecat shit : set up your pointer, save the theme, modify zoom... Baaammm pointer set back to standard.

my windows 10 is 22H2

Édition Windows 10 Professionnel

Version 22H2

Installé le ‎11/‎01/‎2024

Build du système d’exploitation 19045.2006

Expérience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0

I have  one last thing to test...

Is there any doc on compatibilty specs before downloading

That would be close to impossible considering all the different PC systems. I assume you're asking about Windowblinds 11, and the system requirements is Windows 10 or 11, and for the  start menu to be skinned, you will need Start 11.

There is a 30 day trial available from the product page : https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/

I took a look at certificate => No issue here.

WB being installed, launching it gives me "WB has encountered a problem with core files. Error message 7". The error appeared first after "installing services". So, uninstall and tried ahemm... Sorry for what's following... Installed a friend's non genuine 10.89 copy.

Went like a charm !

So maybe a genuine 10.89 copy instead of V11 would solve my issue as, having nearly lost my eyesight 2 years ago from a rampaging glaucoma, most possible dark mode is what allows me to still use my computer even if this mountain of polecat shit of windows STILL displays parts of the UI with dark on white blinding me backgrounds.

And don't get me on windows 11, broken arms at murkisoft DON'T even have fixed that : the same parts are still hardcoded with white backgrounds. They're just harder to get to as the UI is consumer_ized with trinkets.

what is very disturbing in this story is that I did installed successfully one WB11 copy in W10 besides it was a workstation license but, as this set up did get messed up after the restoration of a 3 years old W7 image on another disk, don't ask me why and how, and it was very sluggish at use (hardware not good enough ?), I've decided to set up a pro licence where WB11 didn't went along.

I was unaware that Windowblinds 11 would run on a W10 rig.

Windowblinds 11 is compatible with Windows 10 and 11. Refer here: https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/

Hello,

Any news about this install bug ? IS it possible to exchange this V11 build with a 10.xx ?

I have several Windows 10 system running Windowblinds 11 without issue. I don't think your issue specifically with Windowblinds 11. Something is else is blocking WB11 from installing in your system. Sorry if you already mentioned it, but, have you tried downloading a new installer file from your product page as I mentioned in Reply#1?

What I did :

1. Install a fresh W10 pro 22H2 (removed the previous partition), agreeing on everything during installation + selected ALL basic options.

2. Install ALL updates from microsoft.

3. Downloaded a new WB11 copy from stardock my products.

4. Upon installation => WB has issue with core files (just after the "installing services" part, error message 7.
