Start 11 v2 - auto hide funcion very unreliable and does not unhide

Hi,

I have activated autohide in the Start 11 v2 settings under Additional Settings in Enhanced Taskbar Settings (autohide is off on taskbar settings) and the taskbar hides well, but unhides very unreliably.

Putting the mouse at the bottom of the page does not bring the bar back often and I am forced to use the windows key to make it appear.

Can someone please look into this?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. For auto hide, please refer to this thread and see if you have similar issue as others. https://forums.stardock.com/524069. Please post there and include your system information.

  1. Windows 11? And its full version number. Use Winver.exe
  2. Start11 v2 version number install.
  3. Information on your Monitor brand, Resolution, scale factor etc..

Thanks

What application has foreground focus at the time you try to make it appear and it fails?

Hi,

Yes, the link you provided is the same issue I'm experiencing.

To be honest, I don't expect a main function to be this unreliable three months after someone has raised a complaint against it.

My version number is Windows 11 Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.2861), I'm using the latest version of Start 11 v2 (2.03).

My monitor is an Alienware AW3423DW (3440x1440).

Thanks!

The failure to re-appear occurs even on an empty desktop with nothing running in the background.

Does it only happen on an empty desktop?

Unfortunately whilst that feature works perfectly for most, there seem to be a couple of people who find it isn't triggering.  So far this seems to be linked to having nothing open at all on screen (or at least not active).

Try as we might we have yet to reproduce this suggesting there is some factor in common the machines have which isn't something our testing machines have.

The more information on your settings you can provide the better so we can narrow down the trigger for this.

If I get to assume, it something to do with Alienware monitors. This is the 3rd person reporting with Alienware monitors.

If it helps, the monitor runs at 175Hz and has G-Sync, perhaps it could be a frame update bound issue?

I have the same issue myself. It happens on multiple monitors either using Start11v2 2.51 or 2.52(beta). I never had the problem before today. In the past, the bar would unhide without issue but for some reason out of the clear blue, with no changes made, it stopped unhiding. This seems to only happen when there is no active window. Windows 11 Version 23H2 Build 22631.4830

Everything was running as usual, explorer.exe was restarted and suddenly the issue started. Restarting the PC and installing 2.52(beta) did not help.

The only way to get the taskbar to unhide like it used to is to enable the windows autohide (which of course disables the rounded taskbar and other features of Start11).
