start 11 latest release bug in start menu

icons doubled up on opening

I have used start 11 since it was released. I have the latest version. It worked fine yesterday. When I booted up my pc this morning there was a big problem. I have one section at the top of my start 11 menu titled gaming. That was fine. I have a second section at the bottom of my start menu called programs. In the program section most or all of my icons were showing twice. In addition, icons for things like notepad, clock, etc. were there when I had deleted them.

It looks like somehow start 11 added microsoft start icons to their screen. This is a serious bug and if this happens again, I will have to uninstall the program. I don't want to spend my time removing items from the start 11 menu that I didn't put there.

I am running the latest version of windows 11. My system specs are Intel i7-14700KF, ASUS Prime Z790-P DDR5, LS720, RTX 4080 Renegade 32GB,Kingston KC3000 PCIe 4.0 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD, Win 11 Home, 3840x2160

Do you have "Synchronize pinned items from the OS menu with Start11" turned on in the Advanced settings? If so, try turning it off and see if that solves your issue.

Thank you so much. That was the problem. When I open the advanced settings, that option doesn't appear on my screen so I didn't see it. I had to scroll down to make it visible. Problem solved. Thanks for a quick and helpful reply

Happy to help. Glad it was an easy fix.

I can't find "Synchronize pinned items from the OS menu with Start11" or an "Advanced" setting.

I might be able to find "Start Menu"/"Customize the visual appearance"/"Whatever"...

End of TheGreenAvenger's quote

Open the Config App; click on Start Menu on the left; now click Configure menu; the Advanced option are on the resulting page. You might have to scroll down to see the Advanced options. Click Advanced options to open; and scroll down near the bottom, you should see "Synchronize pinned items from the OS menu with Start11."

No, it's not.

I've tried this on both a Windows 11 and Windows 10 system with the same "no Advanced options" result (screenshot as shown).

Are we running the same program? Would you be willing to post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Advanced options are not available for the Windows 7 and Modern styles.

Switch to the Win10 style, then set the sync os pinned option as you want and then set it back to your existing menu option.

Thanks for the suggested workaround, but I'd request that this be reported as a bug  == general methodology problem. The user shouldn't have to switch to or from a style to tweak a feature that is applicable to other style(s).
