When I click on a zip/rar file, instead of my usual archive manager opening the file, the folder portal "explores" it as if it was a folder.
Is there a way to make it simply let 7zip and winrar do their job?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. May I know, you on your Fences full version number and your Windows full version number. Use Winver.exe to get Windows numbers
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Sure. Fences 5.0 on W11 22H2 - Build 22621.2715
If you disable "allow navigation" (unselected) and already set Windows to use 7Zip or Winrar as default app. Its should open with 7Zip or Winrar, yes?
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
It certainly does. It seems to me, tough, that the approach is rather flawed: using the navigation to travel through subfolders and opening archives should be two completely different things. Ideally, we should be able to navigate *and* open files with the usual associations. It works that way for pictures and texts after all.
Hello,I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

This appears to be an issue on Win11 but not Win10 (works as expected on it).
I have created an internal ticket to have it looked at.
Internal ref: ODNT-7454
