Forced to upgrade to v2, start menu removed! :-(

First your forced me to buy a second license...

https://forums.stardock.com/523140/start11-extremely-disappointing-license-change

So, fine, I clicked on "buy now" in the app and purchased a second license - which didn't work.

I then discovered there is now a Start 11 v2, and apparently that's what the link directed me to buy instead.

I tried the "check for updates" button in the app, but no update available.

So then, fine, I went and downloaded the v2 product instead - which upon installation removed all my settings and all my start menu shortcuts!

And now I suppose you're going to make me buy a THIRD license to update my other computer to v2? For a bunch of new design options I do not want.

I've trusted you as a customer for more than a decade, but you are REALLY messing this up.

I realize there are no competing products in this category, but the way this is going, I might just put up with the Windows 11 menu and be done with this.

You are NOT making your loyal customers happy!

I am sorry, if you do not need all the new improvement on Start11 V2, you should carry on with V1. It should still work normally up to Windows 11 V23H2.

Thank you,

I completely agree with this.  I just started my computer today to find my purchased copy of start 11 has been removed and v2 installed.  I am pretty livid.  There was no warning - just boom.  Everything gone.  And now I need to purchase again?  So angry.

V2 should never be automatically installed for v1 customers.

Are you sure you didn't just get a prompt telling you about v2 in the new 1.5 update?

Just tick the don't tell me again box bottom left and it will not tell you about it again on that user account.

You are not forced to use v2 and in fact we just put out the 1.5 update with lots of fixes to things found during v2 development.

100% sure.  I just booted and it installed all new v2 without my consent.  I do not have v1 onboard anymore it jsut asks for my product key.  When I add my old one it says I: don't have v2 connected to my account.

I mean, the price to upgrade was modest, so I'm less angry now.  But I would rather choose to upgrade than to have it install behind my back.

Happily Fences 5 isn't doing this because I'm not paying that much money for fences and on subscription no less.  Permanent pricing is exorbitant.  I'd rather uninstall it altogether if it ever forced me to upgrade or pay.

That certainly is very strange as it shouldn't ever force install.  Do you have any third party apps for detecting updates of software / drivers as I am wondering if one of those has bad data?

Start11 1.x and 2.x have entirely different product IDs so updates for one should never be sent to the other.  There was a 1.x update this week but it was 1.5 not 2.05.
