Opening a folder

Hi there

Am just trialling Fences and have set up a Portal that includes a variety of different folders in it.  Problem is how to open a folder (I have set 'navigation' to off as I dont want to open it within the protal itself)

TIA

Jamie

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Typically, with Fences 4, when you turn off navigation, it will open File explorer. What error do you get when you click on any local folder? Also, we need more details, please refer here: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1387954197/Contacting+Stardock+About+Fences+Issues

Hey Basj

Sure heres my win version Win 11 21H2 (OS Build 22000.2416)

I dont get any error at all and if I right click a folder and try to open in new tab or other view, neither works (ie no window opens)

Not sure what other information you might need?

Cheers

Jamie

OK a little more info

If I right click on the title bar and select 'open folder' from the context menu then it opens the main folder

however, child folders within that do not open when clicked or right clicked

Why do you need to right click to open a folder? If you double left click on a folder it should open that folder with File explorer.

I was just trying to see what wouold work and when I right click on the folder I get the context menu which gives the option to work...so why wouldnt I try that when nothing else works? even the double click

You should be clear that normal double click don't open the folder, so we can carry on from there. If you double click on a folder, what happened? Error popup? or Nothing at all? If nothing at all. Do you have set 3rd party application to replace your File explorer? For example, program such as Directory Opus, Xyplorer etc?

Quoting JamieEff, reply 7

OK so I dont think have an app that replaces File Explore but I do use an add on called QTTabBar (http://qttabbar.wikidot.com/) - not sure if that falls within the same category as the apps you mention above
End of JamieEff's quote

That is likely the cause, can you test Fences without that product activated/installed?

Try Stardock Groupy: https://www.stardock.com/products/groupy/. It tabs for almost all applications.
