using a desktops processor with a laptop

Here is my query: Is it possible to use a desktop's processor (when not in use) by my laptop, which is on a lan with the desktop. And if so how?

Sorry, I googled for over an hour and couldn't find anything (my google skills are getting rusty)

For bryce renders you can with the included 'Bryce Lightning' network rendering proggy. But aside from that...Ive never heard that such a thing is possible.

Yeah. 'Bryce Lightning' program rocks. I rendered a very diffult to render picture in just 2 hours with that. It would have taken me like 15 hours otherwise.

I don't have bryce.

I was hoping to take the bulk of photoshop and other intensive programs off of my processor to save battery power. I read somewhere (I think) that it is possible to do this. Its not important I'm just curious. Really

HMMM...

I guess you could use remote desktop. Such as RealVnc. That assumes that you got a good computer to use it on, however.
