Shortcut key for New Tab conflict

Can you provide a setting that user can configure hotkey for New Tab? The default shortcut Ctrl N to create a new tab and this hotkey which cannot be changed is not working in some apps i.e., instead of opening a new tab it opens a new file which tries to overwrite existing file. Good example is notepad application.

Solution would be to allow user to set a shortcut key for new tab.
