In the attached pic we see 3 grouped Word Docs.
No matter which doc is being edited, the middle doc remains hilited in Groupy Bar.
I.e. I can click any doc and it will become the current doc, but the hilited doc remains the middle one.
I assume the current doc should be hilited?

This happens to me. Everything is fine until after I minimize a group. Also, when a non-highlighted tab is focused when minimized, it is then focused and highlighted when restored. Clicking on another un-highlighted tab switches to that window, but still remains un- highlighted.

See Replies #20 and #32 of the Groupy2 Public Feedback Thread. These replies refer to Windows 10 - 19045.2965 / Groupy 2, which is not a release Preview build. There is a video on Reply #32 of this issue. In Reply #33, Sean said he could not reproduce this issue, but @droddesbrane also seems to have this issue.
It might be or might not be the same. One question, does OP Dropddesbrane also seeing the same issue as yours (pelaird) as shown in video on this post? https://forums.stardock.com/518687/get;3888569, Where the groupy tabs display without the windows restored.

There are two issues represented in this video. At :27 you will see the switching of tabs and the highlight not changing. You might have to zoom the video to a larger size to see it.
It's more obvious in these screenshots following a minimize and restore.

I am not saying it not happening in your system. I am just trying to figure out how to reproduce it on my system. Conflict with other application maybe. But, which one?
If the OP seeing similar behavior with your video on his system, then we could proceed to see what similar application or setting on your system and his.

Additional Information:
This issue with the tabs and the highlighting after a minimize and restore only happens if you use the taskbar thumbnail to restore the group.
If you only click the taskbar icon for the group to minimize and restore the group, or if you minimize the group by clicking minimize button on the title bar and then only click the taskbar icon for the group to restore the group, the tabs behave as expected.
This doesn't happen with Groupy1.5, but then it wasn't designed for Windows 11. I'll also add that "Show preview thumbnails of inactive tabs on mouseover" also doesn't work. What I take from this is that something has changed in Groupy2 with how it handles thumbnails.
If you can't reproduce this on a Windows 10 machine, I guess I'll just have to live with it. I don't really use taskbar thumbnails since it's easier to just click on the tabs. I also never had "Show preview thumbnails of inactive tabs on mouseover" turned on with Groupy1.5, so I won't miss that feature. I really only use Groupy for File explorer, Notepad, and Wordpad, and I also never save any groups. I use something else for tabs in Microsoft 365.
