[BUG] Start11 detected as a full-screen application when no windows are open or all minimized on the primary screen with multi-monitor

Hi,

This bug concerns only multi-monitor setups.

If there's no window open or are all minimized then Start11 is detected as a full-screen application.

You can easily check that after startup once on the desktop the Focus Assist is set to "Alarms only" instead of "Off".

Disabling the automatic rule to set to Alarms Only for full screen in Settings will change the behavior.

This is quite eco-unfriendly as effectively idling it's going to be detected as gaming/media playback and advanced power saving features will be disabled.

Also will hide any new notification which is not urgent till something else is open.

Same goes for UserNotification API which will detect Start11 as a full-screen application.

Thanks Basj,

Do I need to open a ticket or something as well or the post is enough?

Forgot to mention that I've tested it on 1.44 and 1.45 beta.

Cheers

Are you sure it is Start11 involved here?

With no windows open the desktop would have focus rather than any Start11 windows.

Are you running DeskScapes or Fences?

Uhm, I'm not 100% sure now that you ask...

I am running Fences indeed.

When I focus on the taskbar/Start11 menu the full-screen detection is triggered, when I bypass it via Control+LeftClick to open the standard Windows menu it's not anymore detected as full-scren.

That's why I'm thinking it's Start11.

I'll do some more testing to be sure.

I guess if it's really Start11 should be easy to double check by someone else.

You are right, I should have double checked before. Have been sloppy O:)

Is there a way to unload Fences?

I managed to kill Start11 (the tweak tool can't unload it) and I guess also Fences but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I killed basically everything that was running and still does it...

If I have only one window open and move it on the 2nd monitor I see the full-screen detection kicking in and focus assist switching to alarms only... I'm at a loss.

Maybe it's just another multi-monitor Windows 10 bug that went unnoticed.

You can disable Fences by turn this switch to "off/un-tick"

Oh damn, I didn't notice the scroller...

Thank you.

It doesn't make any difference... as long Explorer is running I have this weird behavior.

Will have to find someone else that can test it.
