the rights of an exile......

are they still aloud to dl stuff? i was talking to james (JamesPasco) earlier today at school, and he said that he (and other exiles) can dl skins, post comments and upload and that exiles can do almost nething they want. Is this true? have the rules changed?

I don't think they can upload or post comments. I think they can still download. Not sure if the rules have changed or not.Maybe there is a glitch in the system.

There are new status changes... one who is a pest on the board can find his/her status changed to visitor. Visitors can download. But not comment.

And for a period of time upon gaining the new 'position' until they have refreshed their cookies, they can post. It is fleeting glory, though.

The only thing that 'exiles' can do is bask in the knowledge that they have transgressed one rule or another to the point of no return.

A website is a microcosm of the general community at large which also imposes 'rules of conduct' which, if broken will have you jailed or summarily shot [usually itself a rule transgressed, but not always].

For a community to survive its 'rules' need to be conformed to, but the advantage of the microcosm variety is that there are alternate 'universes' where other rules may apply more suited to the exilee's temperament.

Being exiled is not a status symbol but an indication that 'another place' may perhaps be more suited to you...

Remember Error501,

Thanks, Chas....now if only there was sufficient silence for you to be heeded....[sigh]...

Maybe that will keep him off the forums.

Though I doubt it.

There should be a cap on how many posts a Level 2 user can create.

/me is guessing if he is posting from school he is bound to get kicked off the computer sooner or later....

frankly if one is exiled, I wouldn't let them do a damn thing on the site, but that's just me..

Well, the thing I can see is that if they contributed through subscriptions and whatnot, and their only fault is an impulsive and imature and 'silly' mouth ... then the visitor status seems fair. Honor their contribution and help them control their 'faults'.

true enough goodmorphing, I have to admit though I hadn't thought of anyone subscribing and ending up exiled.

Bah, people who are insulting, argumentative and annoying should be outta here, and decrease the surplus population.

... Oh, wait. Nevermind.

If all annoyoing people were summarily shot we would end the surplus population and have a much more pleasent existence. I'm with you Bakerstreet.

I'm a big mouth, a rebel without a cause, but I walk the line. Most of the time.

Subscribers invest in something they deem worthy of their hard earned money.
Therefore, a subscriber wouldn't want to do something that may exile them in the first place, but rather, they will work hard to protect their investment.
