It has been said that the "Holy Roman Empire" was neither holy, roman, nor an empire. Along those same lines, one could also say "my icons" in this case are neither yours, nor icons.

We have yet to see any of your icons, Kona. I understand, and can begrudgingly live with, your ability to upload small, converted box-shots and such from software that you find here and there, but PLEASE, please kona, stop acting like you make these images, or that they are 'icons'.

Look around and find some real iconists, i.e. people who make/made real .ico files, in the days that the OS made you work to find the the best metaphor and present it in an intelligible way.

If I made you angry because I was obtuse or rude, feel free to point out where and I'll apologize.

I tried an apologetic hint with the first post, but nothing changed so I tried to be moderately helpful, if more direct, with the second. When you are complimented you make no effort to clarify to people that you don't make this stuff. Language like "my icons" just solidifies the misconception, even if it is unintentional.

Maybe you should re-direct some praise to the original artists instead of doing the blushing, 'aw shucks' thing. An "I don't make 'em, I just convert 'em" every now and then would go a long way.

And don't worry about causing us extra work, go ahead and say so in the existing descriptions. It's one thing that your conversions are allowed here, but for you to continue to take credit for "making them" is really starting to steam me............ You're not doing anything, other than telling the program what you want it to convert. You put no extra work into the images. It's an insult to real skinners IMHO..... Kona: np. Don't overlook the links I posted. I think that this community really, really needs a few more talented in-house iconists. As of now the norm is to go out and find commercial icons and glass them over of jazz them up in some way or other. If I had a dime for every time someone has ripped off Susan Kare http://www.kare.com/index.html I'd just hire her to make my icons for me...

Making icons is an insane art really. Finding the right metaphor, making it recognizable when you only have limited colors and limited little dots, it is a a really cool, challenging thing. Granted, for games and such it would be re-inventing the wheel. Doesn't Object Dock extract icons for shortcuts? I need to look at it again.

I do put put extra work into the images. I crop. I sharpen. i cut. I put some filters on. I reshape. I polish. I test to make sure it works with OD.

IN MY LIBRARY NONE OF MY DESCRIPTIONS SAYS I MADE THE ICON. JUST SAYS ENJOY AND WHAT GAME IT IS FOR.

AND BTW, why don't you guys go pick on the other people here who do nothing more than I do with the icons? Such as the Final Fantasy Icon or the other red Alert Icons? They are nothing more than icons converted as well, but they are done by more accomplished and respected artists.

Kona...You should put a 'Disclaimer' in the comments section on each of your Icons.

So I am assuming,(being that these .pngs are acceptable) that if I want to I can make a full blown theme like a Windowblind, Icons, Wall and Cursor of, let's say...UTK3, Warcraft3, Worms3d etc. without any types of permission?

I've always wanted to but thought the 'permission' thingy might be a little difficult

The other 2 RA2 icons are direct conversions of the program icon. Yet the artist gets no grief, and they did exactly what I did.

Kona: As for 'why me', there is a difference between simple uploads and open, unchallenged praise on the messageboard. Count how many times you refer to these images as your work or your icons, and you'll understand the attention. 'Leaving you alone' will directly correspond to how much confusion there is about the provenance of your 'work'.
