I use the "Clear" setting for the taskbar and have up until now (but it broke because of winupdates) used another app to turn off translucency when I have a maximised window. Which all in all gives a more aesthetic feel of your wallpaper when switching between desktop view and maximised.
Aka: no maximised windows, taskbar stay translucent/acrylic etc.
when detect maximised window, turn taskbar translucency off
