Start11 "Windows 10" style menu – Difficult/impossible to move tile groups

I've got another issue for the "Windows 10" style menu in Start11.  Using Start11 version 1.39 on Windows 10.

To see what I am talking about:

  • Use the "Windows 10" style Start11 menu.
  • Size the menu so that it can hold three groups of tiles horizontally.
  • Create new groups of tiles until you have about 40 groups.  (It does not matter how many tiles are in each group, just one tile in each group is fine.)  This will result in the menu scrolling vertically.
  • Now, try to move one of the groups from further up to the bottom of the menu.  (It's impossible.)

With this many groups, it is impossible to adjust the positions of the tile groups at the bottom.  When dragging tile groups around, the position of the tile group that you are dragging does not track properly with the position of the mouse cursor, so when you get to the bottom you will realize that you'd have to move the mouse cursor off of the bottom of the screen to get the tile groups to move all of the way down there.

Do note that I am talking about moving tile groups and not individual tiles.  Moving individual tiles works fine even if there is a large number of groups.

The workaround is to move a tile group as close to the bottom as possible and then move the groups below it up to sort of finagle things into the right place.

(Display scaling could be impacting this; I am running with a 4K display at 200% scaling.  I tried different tile "sizes" with the "Shortcut icons should be sized:" option, and was able to reproduce the issue with both "Medium" and "Large" size tiles.)

I’m curious as to what size monitor you have, because I’m having a hard time visualizing how you have 40 groups in just three columns horizontally.

Also, I think your workaround is probably the best solution to your issue. I have a similar issue when moving apps around on my iPhone, and  that’s what I do.

Standard 4K.  There aren't 40 groups on the screen at once.  It scrolls vertically like I said.

The thing is, it's a bug.  When you are moving the tile group, it does not move with the mouse cursor like you would expect — it floats way above where the mouse cursor is, so you can't actually move it to the bottom of the screen.  If it tracked properly with the mouse cursor, then this wouldn't be an issue.  The effect gets worse as you add more tile groups (40 just makes it really obvious).  It is not an issue with the standard Windows 10 Start Menu.  Try it out and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Can you post a video showing us the issue. So we can understand it better. Also include your Windows 10 full version number. Use Winver.exe. Appreciate your feedback and patience.

Thank you.

Sure, this video should explain what I am talking about.  I try to move a group from the top to the bottom and it won't let me move it down below two rows up from the bottom.
