56 Tiles Max in Start 10?

Hi,

Right now I have 66 tiles - 8 across, 7 down.

I need more.  What can I do?

Thanks!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. You on Windows 7/Modern Style?

If yes, disable Large icons.

Thanks

Hi,

Ah!  GREAT!  Done!

How can I get a REALLY tall area like yours?  Mine is only about half as tall?

And, the "don't use large" icons setting DOES solve the problem.  But...they are a BIT too small for me to see easily.  IS there some setting that is a mid-point?  If not in the interface itself, perhaps a deeper setting one could reach with some config file edits?

Sincerely,

Trigo

Try this setting: You can increase that to 60. You can adjust that accordingly.

On your second question, I think you can add more by upgrading to Start11. Below is screenshot on Start11.

Ah!  That's great.  What is the link for the upgrade to Start 11?

Found the upgrade link!  I'm still using Windows 10.  Will Start 11 work with Win10?

Hi,

Everything is GREAT!  Love it!  Especially the way one size for the icons is

"Absurd"!

That made me LAUGH!  Well-played and NICE of you: both to offer it as a choice AND name it cheerfully!

One thing I could never get - why my tiles don't alphabetize.  This stopped about a year after I first installed the 10 version.  Used to be anything new added would ALWAYS get placed alphabetically.  No longer.  I wish it would do that.

What do yo think is happening?

Sincerely,

Trigo

Ah!  Seems like there may be a bug?  I'm using Medium Size, Show 75.  Have a big tall screen like yours.

I noticed the Icon area opens a BIT slowly / closes, too.  No problem.  BUT...it seems the  LINK to the apps remains on the screen after it is closed.  So that, though I am clicking on the screen / currently running app, the AREA is the same as an Icon when the Start11 panel is open.  So, the app for that icon...starts.

Out another way - though the S11 screen is closed, a phantom set of tiles PERSISTS, and if you click in that area, an app will start.

Older machine, yes.  BUT!  LOTS of Ram & physical memory.  Win 10.

What do you think is happening?

Try this. Uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after installation finished. Download again the latest version from your account. Install that version, reboot immediately after the installation finish. Retest and report back.

Hi,

Will do.  But, can't for about 2 hours or more.

Also, the app DID force a download of the newest version immediately after initial install.  Installed that one AND rebooted straightaway.  That's when behavior was noticed.  So, may have already done this?

Trigo

Can you post screenshots of your phantom set of tiles. So we can understand it better. Also supply us with there information.

  1. Windows 10 full version number. Use Winver.exe.
  2. Start11 installed version. Currently latest version is V1.39
  3. Monitor/s resolution and scaling apply. 100%, 125%, 200% etc

Thank you,

Do you have the animation option enabled or disabled in Start11?

Hi,

Not sure.  Please can you tell me where that option is within the settings?

Found it!  Let me try for a few hours with this new setting, and I'll let you know how things go.

Hi,

So far, so good!  Nice set of new features and performance.  Is there a user guide, or perhaps a list of ALL settings?  Rather than clicking them all open to see what's inside each It'd be neat to just have them listed alphabetically just so we could see what's possible.

Great work on a USEFUL new app, Stardock crew! :)))

Sincerely,

Trigo
