Cannot RearrangeTaskbar Program Icons

Just another Start11 bug to report!

I find that I cannot rearrange Taskbar program icons.

If I pin a new icon to the taskbar it is always added to the right side, if I unpin an existing icon and then re-pin it it's always on the right hand side.

The only way to fix this is to disable Sart11 from start-up, restart the PC, drag and drop the the icons into there correct order using the standard Windows 11 taskbar, then re-enable Start11 to start with Windows and either restart the PC or find the Start11.exe and run it.

Quite a nuisance really

What happens if you drag the taskbar buttons?  They should reorder.

Nothing they will not drag when Start11 is running

And just to check you do have allow start 11 to enhance the taskbar enabled?

One thing to note is you may get a line for dragging rather than an icon dragging with start11.

Yes to both.

I have enhanced taskbar enabled which centres the program icon but leaves the start button on the left.

I do get a line when I try to drag an icon.

If I switch off enhanced I can move the icons.

Not very intuitive!

So while you get a line it isn't repositioning it when you drop it?

No it does not the line just flashes

Same issue here, new pc windows 11 and start 11, long time client and wanted some control over MS OS. i have tweaked the start11 per my liking and when i go to click and rearrange an icon in the task bar to reposition them, they go back to original spot.

If i turn off start 11 enhance task bar, then windows 11 default allows you to re-arrange the task bar icons as posted above.

This i assume is a bug in the start 11? This is something that should be native with start 11 as in the past windows versions its a huge asset for my work flow.

Thank you

Do you both have all the MS extra buttons disabled on the taskbar?  So no search, taskview, teams or widgets?

If so can you enable one and see if that sorts the issue out after a signout and in again?

Yes I have all 4 of these MS buttons off and yes when I enable the task view button I can rearrange the program icons. As soon as disable the MS button to get rid of the clutter I cannot move the program icons!

Ha me and Mr Bob must enjoy the same settings, he is exactly right Neil. Once i add the search, chat, widgets, task icons back to the taskbar, i can then move and arrange my pin icons around as one would desire.

Like Mr Bob. i dont want those 4 icons or need them.

Thank you Neil

I believe using a non custom start button would also resolve the issue.

We are working on fixing this for the next update, thanks for reporting it.

I added the Search function and was able to rearrange my taskbar icons. After removing the Search function I was still able to rearrange icons. Not sure if that temporary change will last after a reboot.

This was on a new laptop, first time user of Start11.  Very pleased overall.

Neil is this bug still being worked on? I have not seen any updates to the software or post since we posted of its concerns.

Thanks

EDIT: I did try the add search from the OS and then remove the search, i can confirm you can move taskbar icons around with a custom start button after you remove the search. Odd but true.
