Can't move icons

Start11 V1.3

Start11 V 1.3 running on Windows 11 Pro  Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.675)

I cannot move and reposition icons on the Start11 taskbar. When I try to move an icon all I get is a flashing white vertical line on where I would like to position the icon but it doesn't move and just remains firmly in its original position.

I've gone through all the Start11 settings, but for the life of me, I cannot get this to work. It may well be that I've overlooked something simple.

Any advise on this would be highly appreciated.

Many thanks

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after. Reinstall latest version again. Reboot again. Retest and report back.

Thanks

Hi Basj,

Thanks for getting back to me, much appreciated.

Carried out your instructions using the latest 1.3 version: Uninstalled Start11, then immediately rebooted. I then downloaded the latest version from Stardock's website. Unfortunately, after reinstalling Start11 it didn't work and I still couldn't move the taskbar icons.

Tried again, but this time did an extensive deep uninstall of Start11 using Revo Uninstaller Pro, rebooted then reinstalled with the latest version. Again, no joy with the icons again refusing to budge.

Then I discovered the cause of the issue:

Under "Change start button look and position" -> "Use a custom start button image". If this is set to 'ON' it won't let you move the taskbar icons. However, setting it to 'OFF'  fixes the issue, and allow you to move the taskbar icons.

It looks to be a program 'bug' and means I cannot change or use a start button image of my choice and have to use the default version instead.

Do you have a suggestion for a workaround on this issue?

Many thanks

Frank

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Still I can not recreate your issue on my system I turned on custom start button. Change it to one of the supplied Start button. Still, I can move the taskbar icons to any order.

Would like to suggest to try Windows Sandbox: https://forums.stardock.com/505872/start11-support-faq#windowssandbox

Thanks

Hi Basj,

I can live without a custom start button image as I can now move the taskbar icons.

It's definitely confined and specific to my laptop. It works fine on two other systems, both of which have exactly the same Win 11 Pro version as the laptop.

The other weird thing I discovered is that on the affected laptop I can only move the taskbar icons from right to left, but not from left to right.

I would usually investigate this further, but I'm presently up to my eyeballs in work and don't have any further time to spend on it.

Anyway, many thanks for your excellent support on this. It's highly appreciated.

Frank

FYI,

I have the exact same issue. Changing the start button doesn't help. I'm on Windows Insider version so, may be a conflict with that. Not a big deal, probably another update will fix.

Yep, very likely.  The pre-release versions are in constant flux...;)
