Lost transparenncy in many icons, background is black

I seem to have lost transparency for a number of icons on the "Windows 10"-style Start Menu.  They now show against a black background.  I've snipped a few screen shots here.

This happened after I rebooted yesterday for the Windows out-of-band patch.  I don't know if that is actually related.  I have another system that was also patched and isn't showing this behavior.  I tried doing "refresh icons" from the right-click menu, and outright rebooting, but the problem persists.  I also switched to the "Windows 11"-style menu and I can see the same thing on icons there, with some that feature transparency having a black background.

Other programs aren't showing this issue with the same icons.  (Actual default Windows 10 Start menu, Directory Opus, ...)

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Try unistall Start11, reboot immediately after, reinstall latest version, reboot again, retest it and report back.

I've found that I can "fix" this by unpinning and repinning the affected apps.  Still, would be nice to know the root cause of the "bug" so that it doesn't affect myself or others in the future...

That is curious.  I would be interested in knowing if the issue reappears on the new pins if you reboot.

I have the same problem.

The uninstall / install process described above, when carried out with the latest version (V2), not only fails to resolve the problem, but brings along the added headache of not being able to register with a V1.X email / product key.

Unpinning and repining helps with some of the newly black background icons, but not with all.

Your help is sincerely appreciated.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. First, do know that your Start11 v1 key will not work on Start11 v2.Start11 v2 is a paid upgrade, not an updates.

Second, black background icons, which applications you're referring that re-pinning not resolved your issue? Need more details, please.

Thanks

And now... After uninstalling V2 and reinstalling 1.4-j279, activation will still not work. What a mess :(
