Start11 1.31 changelog

  1. Right-click on the left side of centered taskbars when the enhanced taskbar is enabled now correctly shows the menu on secondary monitors
  2. Fixed issue with closing one item from the thumbnail popup from the taskbar in enhanced mode making the popup window jump to the far left of the screen sometimes
  3. The line on 22H2 taskbars now adjusts with the alpha set on the taskbar by the user and is hidden entirely when the taskbar is on top. You can also create a registry key in the usual location of type string and give it a value of "1" and a name of "HideTaskbarLineEntirely" should you wish to always hide the line entirely.
  4. Fixed mouseover pinned item tooltip moving away sometimes when leaving the taskbar
  5. Fences items in Win11 menu mode will now save their order. Note that no gaps are saved in Win11-style menus only the order is
  6. Tweak to refreshing apps list when new apps are installed as the search did not always refresh correctly for the newly installed application
  7. Native Windows 11 will now center exactly vs in line with the start button when Start11 enhances the taskbar and had a centered start button. You can also create a registry key in the usual location of type string and give it a value of "1" and a name of "ForceWin11MenuToOffset" should you wish to line up with the start button as it did in 1.3
  8. Fixed an issue with the taskbar on top having a gap at the bottom of the screen that maximized windows did not use when using the enhanced taskbar
  9. Fixed issue with taskbar clock on primary monitor not showing up with enhanced taskbar enabled sometimes initially until a resize or click on the more system icons button
  10. Fixed issue with the desktop area (that maximized windows use) not being correct after some screen resolution/display config changes
  11. Fix for secondary taskbar buttons on occasion overlapping the Win11 widgets/teams/search icons when using center mode with Start11 enhancing the taskbar
  12. Adds in the messaging about center mode needing the enhanced taskbar option on to function.
  13. Added the two strings to the en and en-us lng files
  14. Fixed an issue where some Win10 \ 11 PCs would not show 'sleep' in Start11.

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

  • Initially hovering over the taskbar search may have the preview thumbnail render offset.  Subsequent hovers will render it in the correct location:

Hello,

I use the small taskbar size setting without the tasbar enhancement. I noticed that the Widget icon is truncated, test is not visible.

But clock , date, and sound icons atthe right of the taskbarare correctly set.

The possibility to have a small taskbar was the principal reason to purchaze Start11. Is there a way to fix thos little bug ?

Thanks in advance.

Does Stardock have any solution for changing the "close all windows" behaviour when right-clicking an app/folder on the taskbar?

It's really frustrating trying to close one folder in Explorer, for example, and ending up closing all of them . . .

I am afraid that's simply the size of the widgets button.  It is too tall to fit well when using a smaller taskbar.  You would possibly avoid that issue if you left aligned the taskbar.

This has been asked and answered a few times on prior threads.  We do not at this time.

Confirmed #1 is indeed fixed. Also the peek preview for secondary monitors are now properly located as well. Very nice indeed. As of now the only thing I can really ask for is icon centering for icons with hidden labels. I would also ask for an option to reverse the mouse wheel direction for page scrolling. I know it fits the same paradigm as scrollbars properly however seems counter intuitive for page switching. If i/m on page one and I scroll the wheel away from me I would expect the page to move forward to page 2. I know the current way (moving back a page while pushing forward) fits with how a scroll bar works but an option "Reverse scroll wheel direction" would be nice.

Thanks again for the hard work guys.

It looks like the Tooltip window does not use the current theme colors for secondary monitors.

In the following ss the image on the left is from the primary monitor while the second in on a secondary monitor.

That will be identical without Start11

So windows 11 only applies the current theme to tooltips on the primary monitor? Well that's crap. I'll post in the feedback app about it although with MSFT it won't get fixed until windows 14 if at all.

Is there a way to enable taskbar transparency on windows insider ? (regedit ? ) I had no problem with the previous version.

I am afraid your version of Windows has the newer taskbar which does not support it.  Start11 1.3 did not remove an option that worked, it purely disabled options which currently do not work on the insider builds.

I imagine your windows version updated to the new taskbar about the same time as you installed the newer version of Start11.

Bug: When I drag the win10-style start menu to the lowest height, and I close the start menu, at that time, the start menu will become a little taller, and needs to be dragged to the lowest height again.

Translation Bug: Win10-style start menu->user->lock the PC option, in Chinese Traditional, it should be"鎖定" not "鎖上", although"鎖上" is ok, but "鎖定" is more formal.

Translation Bug: in the configure window, all the switcher (button to on/off function)'s "OFF" Translation in Chinese Traditional is wrong be translated to"離開", it should be"關閉".

Translation Bug: Some string in configure window, "restart Explorer" option be translated to"重新啟動 Explorer", it should be"重新啟動檔案總管".

These bug still exist in  ver. 1.31.

Enhancement: Make live tiles for win10 style start menu, users can see the current weather or time in the tile, and click on it can bring me to the MS weather app or clock app. Just like real win10 start menu I can saw that information when I pin those app on start menu.

Enhancement: right click on the start menu will show a configure menu, if the menu can be semi-transparent, and with acrylic effect or mica effect will be great!

I like this software, hope you keep it up, thanks!

"Align top is not compatible with autohide taskbars when on Windows 22H2 and later."

The way this is written sounds like it could be a permanent thing. Is there an explanation or confirmation about whether this functionality is permanently gone somewhere? Align top is pretty much the only reason I use this. Not being able to auto-hide the taskbar is a non-starter, so if this is permanently gone I'll just uninstall on my machines that are running 22H2 and stop wasting time on it.

It's the same problem when taskbar buttons are aligned to the left, icon is just thinner without text. Is there any way to modify the size of this button like the others ?

It would be nice to get that back...but I know...dev channel and all that.

Interesting how MS conceded and put the Task Manager right click back on the Taskbar.

behind the widgets, system tray and clock aren't transparent

and the show desktop button isn't all the way in the bottom right corner

im on windows 11

Just like beta last spring I am missing my clock, time and everything on the right of the taskbar. With improvements with the beta version I haven't seen the issue since last spring. It's back. When I launch an app from the taskbar then the clock/time appear as they should.

I have the latest 1.3 Start11 build.

Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe) 22621.746

It looks like you are using an insider release of Windows.  We do not support these.

What should be happening is Start11 will detect the new taskbar your build has and disable the transparency control options but it seems this is not happening.  I would recommend uninstalling Start11, REBOOTING and then reinstalling 1.3 or 1.31 (beta)

Unfortunately just like every version so far, I still cannot drag icons from the Start11 menu to the desktop with Windows 10 Style. RUnning Start11 1.31 beta and latest Windows 11 Pro. Dragging just pins it to the start menu. Does anyone even care about this beside me?

Right click and select "more" and then "Create shortcut on desktop." Not exactly what you are asking for, but still very easy.
