No you misunderstand me.

As I said due to how things work.  As in how start11 has to work to provide the enhanced taskbar options.

The widget will be on the left with start11 when you do not enable the enhanced taskbar.

End of Neil's quote

Oh i see, sorry for misunderstanding. I hope this feature can be added then as i really prefer it on the left, but i also like using my own custom start icon with the taskbar in center but to be able to do that, i am forced to enable the "enhance the taskbar" feature.

Windows11 22H2 Build 22621.674

Behavior:  pop up for running apps "preview" is not centered over app's taskbar Icon.  It remains on the left of the screen.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Enable "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar"
  • Choose any taskbar buttons should be combined option
  • Start Button -> How would you like your taskbar configured? -> Center Aligned
  • Hover mouse over any running apps Icon in the Task Bar

Two issues remain

1. Right click on the left side of the start button fails on secondary monitors

2. Peek preview positions to the far left on secondary monitors
End of Narusegawa's quote

Hello,

1. Expected operation on Secondary monitors

2. Does it happen every time or just the first time after reboot/ect.?

After upgrading to v1.3, 2 of the 3 Edge web apps that I had pinned disappeared from Start11. They still pin fine in Microsoft's start menu and they show up in their All Apps list. I cannot find them in the app list in Start11 nor in a search - those two are just gone from Start11 entirely, the other one is still there. It may be a coincidence, but the two that disappeared were set to size Medium and the one that didn't disappear was set to size Small.

The only way I could get them back was to create desktop shortcuts for them, right click them and then Pin to Start11.

Windows 11, 21H2, 22000.1098.

It happens every time. Also why is #1 expected behavior? That effectively means half of the taskbar on two of three monitors does not work.

Are you able to let us know which apps vanished and which did not?

Also what version were you running before 1.3 and how did you pin them exactly?

Hi guys, I just installed the updated version on windows 11 and I noticed a misbehave on the Windows key when having multiple displays. Until now, pressing the Windows key would open the menu on the current monitor while now, will open the menu on the primary display.

Not sure if this was done in purpose, but it's not very helpful, working on one display and all the sudden, to need to move to the other display only to pick an app and go back to the display you've been working on.

Thank you!

This is normal as it was changed to match the Windows behaviour as it was causing support queries as to why we were different.

But worry not, we have a solution noted in the change notes

Changed Start11 to open the menu on the primary monitor when opened via the Winkey rather than the monitor the mouse is on. If anyone wishes to use the old behavior you can do so by defining "OldWinKeyLogic" as a string value here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8 and giving it a value of "1"

Changing another setting in the config window should make it reload settings, or sign out / in again.

Hi,

When I allow Start11 to control the taskbar, and I centre the customized start button, the previews of the open apps appear as though Windows "thinks" the taskbar is aligned left (see screen shot). Obviously, this is not functionally useful.

Cheers,

Mark

Are you using touch, pen, or mouse for this?

Also which version of Windows (build number), dpi and how many monitors?

If I can ask you to do an experiment, what happens if you set Start11 to have the taskbar at the top of the screen?

Do the popups show in the right place then?

Awesome, thank you! Hopefully in future versions, there will be an option in the settings too!

Can I put a vote in for that too, please?

Having just updated to v1.3 the Start icon is no longer adjusted to be small in keeping with the size of my taskbar, and the wallpaper-blur feature has stopped working

Latest Windows 11. Latest Start 11.

Bottom-aligned auto-hide taskbar, centrally placed start button.
Any dip to the bottom of the screen right of the centre and the taskbar will not appear. Anywhere left of the centre it appears as it should.
It is a bit of a pin when I want to do anything on the right side for notifications or accessing hidden icons etc. I keep on forgetting and dipping down toward the right side of the screen, but nothing happens. I have to go to the left side of the screen, then dip to show the taskbar, then move to the right.
As an aside, I find it so frustrating that you cannot go to the extreme right bottom corner to activate the taskbar. Say for adjusting volume. You have to come left of the toolbar to show it. Strange.

Are you perhaps using a beta / dev build of Windows 11?

Unforunately for me yes i am on a beta build
Perhaps my experiencing these issues now can serve as forewarning of potential issues to come with the next proper release

The user interface should be warning you those features do not work on your version of Windows.

Whilst some may change, the size of the start button is liable to be a fixed size going forwards due to changes in the OS.

I'm having the same bug as the other user on the same build version. Standard DPI scaling and only one monitor. I tried moving the taskbar to the top and it is still aligned to the left.

Do the mouseover tooltips for pinned items show in the right place or the right click menus on running apps?

Tooltips appear where the the thumbnails do, but the context menu is in the correct place.

I really pray a solution will at some point be able to be found for reënabling having a smaller start button because it looks quite ridiculous on my system at the moment

I turned on my computer today (it had been restarted multiple times yesterday already) and both of the problems are magically fixed... huzzah!

How many items are on your taskbar at the time?

Also can you post what settings you have set on the taskbar page in Start11 and the advanced taskbar page please.

One final thing.  If you resize the taskbar to two rows, does the issue continue?
