Custom toolbar

I've been forced to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and am purchasing Start11 to try to make up some of the lost functionality. It has helped a lot, but there's 2 things I'm still missing. Can Start11 do these?

  1. Dock the start bar / taskbar to the right of the screen (allows me to see far more open items at once)
  2. Add a custom toolbar - if Start11 doesn't have exactly this functionality, is there some other method that would get me close? I have a folder with about 8 shortcuts to things I frequently need for 1 project -  bat files, a few specific folders, a URL, etc. - and I miss having that "menu" that allowed me to really be efficient with that project.

Thanks in advance!

Add a custom toolbar

Start11 doesn't allow the creation of toolbars yet. Maybe they will include this at a later date. As a workaround, if you are using the Windows 10 or 11 styles, you could create a new page and pin the files and folders you keep in your taskbar folder to that page. Once you have created the page and pinned your files, you can organize those files and folders into groups and then name the groups.

Start11 ver. 1.25 allows you to use the scroll wheel to scroll through your start menu pages. You might actually find this works better than a toolbar because you have better organization.

This wouldn't work if you're using the Windows 7 or Modern styles.

Might i suggest systemtraymenu from the microsoft store.

It's essentially a much more customizable and user friendly version of the start menu for every version of windows prior to win7 can be a taskbar or a tray icon a fixed menu anywhere on the screen or can be set to pop up where ever mouse cursor is at. I personally dont use it to replace the start menu but instead link it to the root of my 2ndary ssd that houses my music/movies/installers/downloads and anything else  valuable that might otherwise get overlooked and deleted during a clean install of windows 11 which i've already done half a dozen times in the 2 months i've been tinkering with 3rd party programs that customize windows such as winaero and the entire stardock lineup as well as half a dozen other programs to regain the taskbar/menu functionality.  as for my prefference for my primary start menu it's between startmenu-x and start11

As you say, this app is just a Windows 7 and earlier start menu replacement with better customization features. I never really liked those start menus and having to drill down to the file you want. I much prefer the Windows 10 style start menu with a more graphical UI. Adding a start menu page to Start11 allows me to easily find the files I want and to organize them in an easily recognizable order without having to drill down through 5 or 6 directories.

I tried pelaird's solution of creating a new page in my start menu, and have been working with this for a while now, and I can say that I'm happy with it. Thanks so much!
