Start 11 Version  1.24

As you can see in the first image, I have selected black for the background.

I have transparency set to 45%.

In the second picture, you can see that the background is white.  But sometimes it is black.  But not always.

How can I fix this?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Which Windows version you on? Use Winver.exe to get Windows full version numbers. Post it here. Also have you try Start11 V1.25? And have you disable accent color under Windows 10/11 setting?

Thanks

It looks like you have set transparency on the menu.  This will make it transparent to what is under the menu.

Setting the transparency setting to be solid will achieve what you are looking for (100%)

I do have transparency set, but I would expect that black would be a shade of gray. I would expect to see a shadow of the items behind the menu, but the background should not be changing between black and white.  Maybe my expectations don't match reality.

At 45% transparency with the start menu over a white background it is going to look gray. You can see in your screenshot; it looks black over the dark settings window and gray over the white area. You will have to apply a transparency of at least 75% solid to get the effect you are trying to achieve. Just play around with it until you like it.

And at 75% transparency, it is solid black over black backgrounds. I was looking for gray overall. But that is not possible.

That is how transparency works. You see through the Start11 menu to what's beneath it. If there is white beneath it you see light-gray; if there is blue beneath it you see blue-gray; and if there is black beneath it you see black. If you want a light gray Start11 menu background, you will have to set the color to a gray you like and set Transparency to 100% solid.

Yeah, it's a compromise. I really want the color to be consistent, but have a shadow of the background seen through it.

Try setting the background color to RGB 180 180 180 and the transparency to 99% solid. I think this is the best you are going to get.

That was pretty close.  112 112 112 @ 70% is what I ended up with.

Thanks
