Disable new windows from opening on middle-click on taskbar?
Is there a way (maybe a registry hack, or system or Start11 setting) to disable Windows from opening a new window when open apps are middle-clicked in the taskbar?
I keep on inadvertently opening many new windows while using middle-clicking to start and stop scrolling through long documents.
I'm running Windows 11 Home 21H2 with Start11 on a Lenovo Yoga laptop. A Microsoft rep told me to disable middle click on three-finger tap and four-finger tap in the Windows touchpad settings, and said that doing so should turn off this taskbar feature in Windows. But of course middle-clicking the taskbar with a mouse or pen tablet still opens a new window. The Microsoft rep then suggested that this is an OEM problem (Lenovo). I've tried stopping/disabling the Lenovo Yoga Mode Control service, which had no effect. And all the mouse settings in the Lenovo app just redirect to the main Windows settings.
I'm hoping you taskbar experts will know more about a possible workaround! Thank you!
