Start11 1.8 is buggy as hell

Thanks for answer. No, I did not tried that version, but that does not prevent the developers or the users who have noticed this issue from confirming me if these two issues are still there in the latest version or have been fixed.

Honestly, I do not remember seeing this issue before. I will say that version 1.18 was a beta release and did have some rough edges, I would definitely not recommend judging your experience on that version as to whether start 11 is for you. You should be able to at least try version 1.2 as a free trial which is a much better version, and 1.22 for paying customers is even better.

I'm using Start11 v1.8 under Windows 10.2004.19041.450, and it is buggy as hell. Many times when you click on the desktop or on a program window, the Start11 window activates itself, and it does it hiddenly, so you end clicking on a button of Start11 in a hidden way without your acknowledge.

Sometimes Start11 opens my control panel when Start11 is "closed" and I just click on a icon of my desktop. It is as buggy that one of the times this happened to me, I ended shutting down my computer just for clicking on a icon of my desktop, because it seems I hiddenly clicked the shutdown button in Start11 menu... when I did not that thing of course.

Also, when you open the Favorites menu, Recent Files menu and any other menu in Start11, a little window is created and shown at the top-left corner of the screen (coordinates: 0 x 0), and that is very disgusting. That window must be completely hidden at window creation.

Anyways I don't know whether they seen and solved these problems in v2.0, but I'm not going to buy this software if the main problem of Start11 window activating itself in a hidden way still not fixed.

What I mean is that if you for example click here (where my mouse icon is located):



Mysteriously you don't know it but the Start11 window may be open and activated but its window will be invisible, so you can end up pressing any Start11 button, in this case the shutdown button:




( I'm just showing what button would be activated in Start11 when I do click at that mouse coordinates and this bug happens, but as I said the Start11 window will be completely hidden to your eyes. )

It happens few times but enough times to harm you. And I suspect this is more susceptible to happen when the system is busy and responding slow (while doing multi-tasking as having multiple programs opened that consumes memory, unziping files, encoding video files, copying files to other disk, etc).

I assume you are using 1.18 beta rather than 1.8 as there is no such version. Likewise the current release version is 1.2.

With regards to your issues, neither of the issues are normal in any version.

It is unlikely the menu itself is being opened by Start11, it is more likely something else is causing the window to become visible when it should not be.  This is even more likely given the issue with the window in the top corner which whilst a window does exist when those popups show, it is invisible.  The fact it is not on your system points to something interacting with Start11 making these visible.

What other programs are you running on your computer?

Also is Start11 set to animate the start menu in or have you set this to disabled?

Time ago I bought Start10 and Fences, but for some strange reason my Start10 license does not appear in my account product page, and also It does not give me the chance to upgrade / switch with a discount to Start11. Simply It's like if I never bought Start10, and I don't understand why. My Start10 license is totally functional with Start10, but in my account product page does not exists and I don't have any Start11 upgrade offer there. And when I try to put my e-mail to check for upgrade it says: "Sorry, you do not qualify for upgrade pricing at this time."

So... strange things. Then I decided to test Start11 before buying, by other means, as the website does not give me the chance to download latest Start11 version, it just redirects me to the purchase method page.

Yes, 1.18, sorry for the misstype. Now I switched to 1.19.

I don't have any single running 3rd party program that interacts with the visibility or behavior of windows. I closed all 3rd party apps except Fences and Start11 to ensure. (Needless to say, I don't have viruses or anything like that.)

This only happens with Start11 drop down menus. In no other program.

All this means the window is visible by default, I don't understand you say to me the opposite.

And I know perfectly well that what I am saying is as it is, because it is a problem that I had myself when I started to develop software (in .NET) as a hobbie, it bothered me a lot that in certain circumstances the graphical window of my user interface was seen for an instant in the coordinates 0x0 before being resized and repositioned. The fact that this happens is a simple programming problem.

The animation was enabled, now I disabled the animation, and the problem still there. When the "Favorites" or "Recent files" drop down menu window is going to be created, I can see for around 100-300 ms that menu window being created and shown for an instant at the top-left corner of my display screen, then it disappears / resizes / relocates.

It's a minor problem anyway, it's just ugly. The most serious problem is the other one I described, and its hard to reproduce, I know, but I was hoping someone had already spotted this issue.

Can I ask why you have updated to 1.19?

1.2 is the current release version and 1.18 and 1.19 should no longer be used.

I updated to 1.19 to see if the problem still. That is the latest version I found googling.

Could you give me a direct download link to Start11 v1.20 trial?. Because this website just redirects me to the purchase page and does not give me any upgrade chance (I bought Start10 in the past but its like if I never bought it).

I'm going to install it and test it.

EDIT2: Installed v1.2 trial, did not rebooted. The window problem persist. Now I can't reboot until some hours, but later I will reboot and if the problem does not get solved then I will record a video or a GIF to show you the problem.
