Start 10 preventing update to Win 11

My Laptop is running start 10 and win 10.

M$ has asked me to update to Wim 11 which I agreed to, with some trepidation.

Part way through the process it says it cannot proceed because Start 10 needs updating.

Question is this:

1) Do I have to uninstall Start 10 and run with the win10 interface (spit) until after the win 11 update and then install Start 11?

2) Can I install Start 11 on my win 10 system such that M$ will update the system to Win 11 with no problems?

Thanks for read and sorry if this is a dumb question.

Thanks for this response .. I take it you mean 1 - I have to uninstall Start 10 and run with the win10 interface (spit) until after the win 11 update and then install Start 11, and NOT 2 - I install Start 11 on my win 10 system such that M$ will update the system to Win 11.

I cant be the only one in this situation, what are other experience?

I said it is always best to fresh install Windows 11. ie Format hard drive and install Windows 11 etc. But, if you wish. Yes, you can uninstall Start10. Upgrade Windows 11 than install Start11.

Thank you,

Best means weeks of work finding licences, reinstalling programs, The same right royal PITA every time one buys a new

computer. If that is the only way to do it I will stick with windows 10 --  I have stuck with windows 8.1 on another machine.

I would be interested in the experience of others updating to W11 and its interactions with Stardock.

I believe I saw a user manually delete all the registry keys for start 8 on top on uninstalling start 10 (yes there are start 8 registry keys even for start 10 / 11)

The registry keys are located in

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8

I wish I knew the exact reg key that was causing the issue, but I do not.
