Start11 and Mouse/Trackball Scroll Wheels Issue
No Default Action
I don't remember this being an issue prior to the Beta version of Start11 being released, but I also don't know if anyone else is experiencing this issue or not either. Here's what I'm seeing;
First, after experiencing bugs with the new Beta (Alpha?) version of Start11 (the new taskbar 'features'), I downloaded the most recent (NON-beta) version of Start11 and installed that. I believe it's version 1.11.
For daily use, I use two rodents that I've been using for years now; one is a conventional Anker mouse and the other one is a Logitech trackball. I also occasionally use a pen tablet in Photoshop. Mostly though, I use the trackball. I've never had ANY issues with this configuration. And yes, I've unplugged everything and tried JUST the mouse and JUST the trackball, but nothing changed.
Moving on, I just noticed that when I click on Start11 menu (Windows 10 Style menu) , the scroll wheels on BOTH the trackball and the mouse don't work (by default) anymore. If I move and hover my cursor over either the main Programs menu or the icons on the right half and use the scroll wheel, nothing happens; there's no scrolling of either the list of programs OR the program icons on the right. What I have to do to scroll the Programs lists and/or the program icons is as follows;
1. Press the tab key THREE (3) times, which then moves the focus onto the 'A' at the top of the Programs list. From there the scroll wheel works fine and I can scroll up and down the list of programs, click a program, and it launches and runs. If I click into a program FOLDER and come out of that folder without clicking the corresponding program, the scroll wheels stops working again and I have to hit the tab key THREE (3) more times to get the scroll wheel to work again!
2. If I want to scroll the list of program icons on the right half of the main menu, I have to press the tab key one more time, which then highlights and puts the focus on the top left (first) icon. Once that happens I can then use my scroll wheel to move up and down the rows of icons, click one to the program, and it launches just like it's supposed to.
3. From THERE, if I want to go back to the Programs list, I have to press the tab key FOUR (4) MORE TIMES to get the focus back on the A at the top of the list of Programs.
I don't recall ever having to do this before, but I'm old and I forget things. Is this (above behavior) normal or did the Beta version of Start11 make some change that I can't figure out how to UNDO? I ran and made sure the driver apps for the trackball and mouse are still configured properly, and nothing has changed on that side of all this. I'm stumped!
HELP!
