Problem

I run DeskScapes full screen on Windows 11x64, and well pleased with it...kind of. DeskScapes is set to run at start up, which is O.K. but, when it's been running for a while, and I run a window full screen, when closing that window...a small margin, is kept  along the top of the screen, effectively hiding part of the running video

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Can you post more information no your system.

  • Windows 11 full version numbers. Use Windows Winver.exe to get that full numbers.
  • Deskscape 10 or 11? and its version numbers?
  • Post a video of what you mean by that small margin along the top of the screen?

Thanks

I am having this exact same issue. It progressively gets worse and worse and worse (meaning the gap keeps getting bigger and bigger, like the wallpaper is moving down screen) until you have to reboot. If I disable deskscape, the problem goes away when reverting back to the original wallpaper. When I restart it (without having rebooted), the problem continues.

No video is necessary, a simple screenshot illiterates the issue:

The black gap isn't always black, it's usually whatever was on the screen at the time the gap appeared; so it can be a title bar header that you see partially or whatever.

Deskscape Version: 11 BETA 5

Windows 11 Pro: (it has been happening through several windows 11 updates), presently on 21H2 (OS Build 22000.556)

Note, I do not ever shut off my PC; it is on 24/7; it takes days for the problem to occur. Typically, I have a different background running on each monitor (up to 4 monitors).

Is the issue happen on any animated or static background?

Any animated or only some special type of animated background.

Any animated, I have a different video for every monitor; the problem happens across all monitors equally; I use animations from https://www.wincustomize.com/, I cycle through animations; so it happens with all of them.

First, Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: [link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

While I will re-install the software (when I can afford to reboot); are you all going to be investigating this or are you just hoping that re-installing it fixes it? My issue is coming off a fresh installation (not an upgrade) of windows 11 with just a few products installed (start 11, fences 4, deskscapes, multiplicity, and chrome). The computer doesn't have much else installed on it besides what windows installs by default.

I suggested you to do purge and reinstall, not just uninstall and than reinstall. Purge should remove any corrupted files/setting etc. And reinstall fresh. We start from there. Once that is done, there other steps to try narrow down the issue on your system.

I recorded the screen (video), but the created video didn't show the margin. I took a screen capture, which shows the margin as a black strip.

My system..

Version 21H2

Installed on ‎02/‎12/‎2021

OS build 22000.556

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.556.0

A few other thoughts..

I have a folder of videos (MP4), specifically acquired  to run as video desktops, most last 60 minutes, but some longer. If a scene changes in a video (but same video), the margin sometimes appears, the margin contains the top of the previous scene. I have a shortcut in my desktop context menu, to restart Microsoft's explorer, When using this option, explorer restarts, new video plays, margin gone...but appears again eventually. I bought DeskScapes, as it supports multi monitors...which is in my future.
