Disable left click menu

I get the Windows Start Menu when I single left click anywhere on the Start 11 Taskbar (v1.16). Is there a way to disable this?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Left click should not bring up anything if its click on an empty space on the taskbar. Can we know on your system and issue.

  1. You are on Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11? and its version please.
  2. Have you try reboot and see if the problem goes away?
  3. Can we have a video grab of this.

Thanks

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎2022-‎03-‎15
OS build 22000.556
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.556.0

This is a rebuild of my pc with a new MB, CPU, & NVMe. Fresh Windows install (fully updated with all updated drivers) with very few apps installed and very little configuration.

Rebooting does not change anything.

Note:

1) The taskbar is docked at top and the maximized browser window displays space for the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. That slot is allocated: no application will maximize to fill that space. This happens when the computer goes to sleep and wakes up.

2) There is, so far, one app icon that doesn't display correctly. I've never had that problem before on Windows Taskbar or previous versions of Start11, as far as I can recall. The app is: winget show --id Automattic.Simplenote

3) The left click on taskbar. Anywhere on taskbar shows the original Windows Start Menu. Clicking the Start Menu shows the Start 11 Menu. Right-click works as expected.

The issue with the icon for that app has been resolved for the next build.  Thanks for letting us know.

The first issue is something that was noted in release notes that it can happen.  This is being investigated internally to ensure it is fixed.

I was able to repro on a clean boot. Only when configuring Start 11:

Let Start 11 enhance the taskbar => On
  Taskbar Position
    Primary Monitor => Align Top
Secondary Monitor => Align Bottom (Disabled: No secondary monitor)

BTW, there is something a little wacky here, in that when you change from initial Align Bottom to Align Top, it sometimes changes the value of Taskbar size. I always set to Medium, but sometimes it flips to Small or Large when changing vertical alignment. Actually, it changes other settings "randomly" too. I just changed it to Align Bottom and it turned off the Let Start 11 enhance the taskbar completely.

I can also go back to my original account and change to Align Bottom, and it stops displaying the og Start Menu on left click. Changing back to Align Top and it comes back. Not sure what other settings or factors are involved, but I've narrowed it down that far.

Side note: My Windows Terminal & Google Chrome icons keep randomly disappearing. Just a blank but functioning "button" there. And then they come back.

Additional note: the batch file referenced in that Cleanboot post does not work. I needed to change the Start11 service's Startup Type before it would Start.
