Start11 v1.16 Taskbar

I have installed the version 1.16. Now my taskbar is located on top. I have tried it with the settings to switch to bottom and to restart the explorer, but nothing is changed. What can I do?

I have rebooted the computer and the setting are again to top, but I could resolve it, it was working after switching the second screen to top, than buttom is working

I have the same issue!  I had to hard reboot the system to get my taskbar back on the bottom of my screen.   This happened a couple of times to me, and it happen randomly.  I wasn't even at my desk when I came back to find the taskbar at the top of the screen.  I eventually reverted back to 1.07 in order to keep this from happening.

Anyone have ANY idea how to prevent this from happening?  Or is this a bug in the 1.16 version..

I have the same issue.  I thought I had resolved it but it comes back when I wake my computer and when I do a hard or soft reset.  I have uninstalled and will revert to non-beta version.

Can we have more details on your systems please.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? and its version numbers. Use Windows own Winver.exe to get it.
  2. Single or multiple monitors, resolutions and scaling on all monitors.
  3. Graphics cards specific setting like Nvidia Surround Spanning, HDR, etc
  4. Any other information that might help us narrow down the issue.

Thank you,

OS Name    Microsoft Windows 11 Pro Version    10.0.22000 Build 22000
Single monitor resolution 1920x1080, scale 125%

Graphics    Intel(R) UHD Graphics, PNP Device ID    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9B41&SUBSYS_1BE11043&REV_02\3&11583659&0&10, Driver Version    30.0.101.1404

I am running ExplorerPatcher but I disabled the taskbar controls.  However there could be a clash there.

Thank you, Jeff

Windows 11

Single monitor, 4K (60Hz)

nVidia RTX 2080 Super (EVGA)

default monitor settings

As I stated before, I wasn't even using my computer when mine happened..  I do turn the monitor off - but sleep and hib are also disabled.

I literally have to sign out of my computer then login again to get it back to normal!

I did a quick test. It does appear that explorerpatcher and the latest version of start 11 do have a few compatibility issues.

Would you try renaming the dxgi.dll (located in your windows folder) to dxgio.dll then restart explorer.

The rename from dxgi to dxgio is the on / off switch for explorerpatcher.

I have multiple files named of dxgi.dll in Windows folders and sub folders.  I shall uninstall explorerpatcher and try that.

Does it happen if you just let Windows do its thing to turn off video signal after inactivities, hence the monitor will turn itself to low power states. I read somewhere Windows see as you unplug the monitor if you just turn off the monitor, hence might mess thing up.

I hear you, but never been a problem before (only with the beta)...

I've reverted back to official released version for now, I don't have time right now to diagnose this. Sorry!

That will work as well. I believe an uninstaller has been created on the git hub page. Otherwise, it is only the dxgi.dll file in the main windows folder and not the sub folder's you need to focus on. I believe there should only be two in the main windows folder and one of them should have a preview attached to the name which is not the one you need.

I couldn't replicate the error as before but there is still some odd behaviour going on.  I have uninstalled everything and will reinstall methodically later and see how I go.

Same problem. Please disregard my new topic. Even if I reboot, it continues to fail.

Can I re-install the previous version, please?

Yes John.  Uninstall the beta.  Go to the Stardock page and download the non-beta version (unless it is already in your downloads folder) and reinstall it.  You are on Windows?
