How do I disable highlighting of recently use apps in start11

I am using the Modern Style

If you wish to turn off recent application use you can turn off this option :

If you just wish not to show some application, just right click on it and use "remove from this list" option.

This switch was already off.   I tried turning it on and then off again, but this had no affect.

My most recently used applications and folders are still highlighted with a large blue elipse around them.

I do not wish to 'not display' any applications.  I want all the applications displayed, but I do not want to highlight my most recently used applications.

In this case,  I had been using the Chrome Browser recently.  So when I display 'all programs'  the Chrome browser folder is highlighted with the blue elipse around it.   If I had been using numerous programs recently,  I would see numerous entries highlighted at once.  This is very distracting. I do not want any recently used programs highlighted.

From your screenshot, look like you on Windowblinds or Curtains? Also on Windows 11 or 10?

No.  I am just using Start11 on Windows 11.   I am not using any other Stardock product, either Windowblinds or Curtains.  I do not know anything about these.    I just installed Start11 with the modern skin on a new Windows11 computer. 

Okay, now I understand more on your system. But, I can reproduce your issue on my system. Here what steps I did :

1. Browse all program list
2. Click on MPC-HC Folder,
3. It open up with dropdown list of things inside that folder.
4. I double click on MPC-HC.
5. Start11 panel closed and Open up Media player classics.
6. Click back on Start11 button. Browse the all program list again. But, the MPC-HC is not highlighted as shown on my screenshot below.

But, I do know that those folder will be highlight when we install new programs in the system. Those are control by Windows.

Ok.  If this is controlled by windows, then I guess there is no solution.   There must be a bug in windows.  I have turned off the 3 switches in settings->personization->start but recently installed apps and recently used apps are still highlighted.

First, what version of Start11 are you using? I remember this happening to me in one of the early versions of Start11 when only the Windows 11 and Modern style menus were available. I know I figured it out, but for the life of me, I can't remember. Make sure you are using the latest version (ver. 1.11) of Start11.

Try going to the Modern Style settings page and under the "All programs list" section select "Use Windows 10 style all programs list rather than Windows 7 style" and see if that helps.

Here is what I have discovered. When a new program is installed, Windows 11 causes it to be highlighted in the start11 'All Program' list.

By simply opening this entry once, the highlighting disappears.  This behavior is acceptable to me.  I did not realize previously that the highlighting would disappear once the entry was opened the first time. 

Obviously this is not controlled by the start11 application.
