Where do all the downloads go

What is the best way to organize the downloading from all the different sites. ie: wincustomize-stardock central- general upddates window etc.
Hope this isn't stupid. I know SD Central will apply them if needed but some times i don't want to.
Do I unzip and move them to the right program then erase zip?
or have all downloads go to the same place?
Some files don't shown in SD downloads file.
What is the best way to organize for compulsive disorded

Not sure if this is what you mean, but I have a folder in C:\ called Web Downloads. I download EVERYTHING to that folder, and then I create new folders within that to seperate things like icons, fonts, wallpapers etc. So, If I was downloading some fonts, I would download them to C:\Web Downloads\Fonts and then I can move them to, or unzip them to the relevant place on my system. Does that make sense? Basically, everything goes to the same place, and then into sub-folders, so that I always know where to look for anything I have downloaded.

If the file was zipped, I always delete it after unzipping to the correct place, purely in the interests of saving space, but if I think it's important I don't delete the zip file.

I hope this helps.

I create a folder on my HD and when I download I right click and save target as, and tell it to download to that folder. Each thing goes to its own place after its unziped. For windowblinds, all you have to do is double click on the file and it puts it where it needs to be. Then delete the file you downloaded. Wallpapers need to be unzipped and put into your windows folder. Then again delete the origional. Same for all other programs.

I usually use a normal browser rather than SDC or the SkinBrowser for downloading and download skins for archival purposes so that I can install them whenever I want and burn a CD of them for storage.

I used to have a folder called Downloads and had subfolders underneath it for each type of downloads: Windowblinds, Wallpapers, Winamp and so on.

However, this system doesn't work well when you start downloading skins that are part of an overall theme, because the various skins for the theme end up being scattered all over the place.

So I've done this: create a folder called Themes. Under it I create a subfolder for a particular theme: For instance Avenger.

Under Avenger I'll have more subfolders: WindowBlinds, Wallpaper, Sysmetrix and so on. I place the Avenger WindowBlinds skin in the WindowBlinds folder and so on.

Now when I want to install a all the skins for a theme for the vary first time, I can go to that theme's folder and easily access all the skins for that theme and install them easily. (Double click the WindowBlinds WBA file and so on)

I pretty much do the same thing as everybody else, but now I have the folder "My Downloads" in My Documents with a shortcut on the desktop.

I have a separate partition for all my download needs, in it each year has its own folder, with the months as subfolders.

Ofcourse you can't find shit in there after a while, but it's a good way to keep track of what you've been downloading lately.

Um I pretty much do the same as others I guess....

I have 3 drives on this machine, one is an 80G that holds the mp3s, The Shield epsiodes from my Creative TVcard and programs I download. I like to stick them all there to stay so in case a new version comes out I don't like, or I just need an older .exe for whatever reason, they are all there.

Everything else pretty much goes to it's place...Um my ObjectDesktop directory has subdirectories for all the programs, themes and skins go there. Winamp skins go in Winamp/Skins , etc etc. Wallpaper to My Documents.
