Will Stardock be fixing Groupy for windows 11?

not great for rounded corners

Looks bad on both the left and right bottoms of the tab ends in windows 11, just doesn't integrate well with windows 11 using rounded corners. Are there plans to make it look like it is a part of windows 11? This is by far my most used app and I do consider it indispensable. Looks great on all windows 10 machines.

I’ve recently identified a day to day use case for Groupy and continue to love Fences but can’t pull the trigger until Groupy fully embraces Windows 11 including the UI. Here’s hoping Stardock updates the package. Looking forward to it! I’m sure existing users will appreciate it as well (those that have or will move to Win 11)

I believe work on Groupy 2 is slated to begin development sometime as soon as when Start 11 v1.2 is finished. This is based on an old list that has Groupy 2 next in the que followed by Windowblinds 11.

I believe that Stardock will be working on everything they can for Windows 11.   (Except DesktopX)....

Well with tabs officially coming to Windows 11, one does have to wonder how much effort Stardock is going to put into Groupy to keep it going.  It's already not getting the attention of the other apps, that's for certain.

I don't think they're even working on Groupy anymore for Windows 11, They're clearly focus on Start 11, no hope for Groupy

It absolutely does do a whole lot more, but we all know it's main purpose is for a tabbed file explorer and that's even how Stardock marketed it.

That is not and never has been the main purpose of groupy.

Different users have different needs.

We are currently looking into what features people might be interested in for a future groupy.

Groupy with split screen support. Tabs built for having two or more windows opened at the same time.

My wishlist for groupy.

1. Time delay between opening multiple tabs in a group. Sometimes they dont all appear in the group until you move them. I believe groupy can't keep up when launching 5+ programs.

2. Better peek. Similar to how aero peek works when hovering over the preview the entire tab should be made visible.

2b. Larger peek preview. I can barely tell what it is.

3. Saved groups export/import. I know you can manually do this but it should be an option in the program.

4. General UI improvements especially for w11.

5. Remember last active tab in a group upon reopen.

6. Combined tabs. Multiple tabs combined together when clicked displays both tab contents in a vertical/horizontal split (resizable of course).

7. A "Close group" button even when tabs are integrated into the caption. I know you can go through the menu but having a close button would be faster. Currently this only works when tabs are not part of the caption. Maybe an option like "Close button affects current tab only".

8. Reopen groups on the monitor they were last closed.

I want to 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th the following:

"8. Reopen groups on the monitor they were last closed."

This is really annoying especially if you have multiple virtual desktops.

I should have added reopen on last dekstop as well. I know it can be done because both firefox and edge do it. I've looked into it a bit but haven't found a wy to do it.

rounded corners friend.  rounded corners :P

and support for win11's snapping.  (unsure if it does already.  im sort of test driving 11 so i havent installed it yet.  the inability to put the system tray on my non primary monitor is a real deal breaker thats had me hesitant)

You need to disable Windows 11 tabs with VIVE if you don't want the duplicate tabs.  ❗❗❗

I just found out that Groupy 2 has been out for a while now and it looks great! Nice rounded tabs and all kinds of other options. You have to buy a new license for $10 but it covers 5 computers. https://www.stardock.com/products/groupy/
