Can I make folders behave like the desktop?

Can I make folders on the desktop behave like the desktop visually?

I got icons and shortcuts arranged on my Windows 10  desktop in a specific way that makes them easy to find. e.g. TBS strategy games are in a row, RTS strategy games in a different row. And each icon/shortcut is in a specific position in its row.

But now I got too many and they cover half my desktop. Therefor on my desktop I want to a create folder for each row. e.g. TBS Games, RTS Games. And I want to put the icons and shortcuts into the corresponding folders. And I want those icons and shortcuts be physically arranged in the specific way I place them. (not alphabetically, nor by date, size, type, etc.)

Do you have software that can do this?

Hello,

You should try Fences for that. There is a 30 days trial version to see if it work for your requirement. https://www.stardock.com/products/fences/.

Thanks. I remembered that I had Fences 3 but hadn't installed it. I am on Windows 10. Is it worth it to upgraded to Fences 4?
And if I upgrade is it easy to do without losing all my Fences 3 settings?

Yes, should be an easy upgrade. Try out Fences 3 first and see if it suit your needs.
