Start 11 Dual Screen - Unable to delete on 2nd screen

was issue on Start 10 as well

This seems to be an issue with only my dual screen machine.

IF ... I want to edit the Start11 menu by clicking on the start menu and then click programs and  I see a short cut that is out of place or a folder that I no longer need and I right click it to choose delete. a small dialog appears saying Delete this item? When I choose "yes"  it deletes the item and  everything is fine.

If  I do the very same thing on my 2nd screen clicking "yes"  does not do anything.... you can see the button act like it has been clicked  but  it does not disappear and the item is not removed.

I have to actually  drag that dialog over to the other screen in order for the "yes"  button to work.

I am not sure it is a function of Start11 (or start10)  But it is noteworthy that I am also running "Display Fusion Pro" which has support  for "Start10" & "Start11"

Is this behavior something that can be corrected?

Thank you for your time.

AzDude.   I do not think  you understand the issue.

I am unable to delete items in the start menu on my second screen.

I can only delete things  from the  start menu if I do so from the main screen.

Once the item is deleted it no longer appears on the second screen.

The shortcuts that are displayed in the startmenu are just link files.

I can only delete them on the main screen.

Thanks, I understand it now, but, I can't reproduce your issue on my system. I have 2 monitors on Windows 10 running Start11. I can delete something from my all program list on both of my monitors. Few questions.

  1. This issue on your second monitor, you can not delete any short cuts or folder?
  2. The issue only happen on your second monitor, and never on your first one?
  3. Have you try restart explorer.exe and try delete it on your second monitor after restart?
  4. Do you have any other 3rd party application running for your taskbar and startmenu, such as explorerpatcher, startisback etc?

Thank you,

1. I cannot delete anything in the start menu.  Desktop shortcuts on the second screen delete normally.

2. Correct, the issue only occurs when trying to delete a shortcut from start menu on the second screen.

3. Yes  I have restarted explorer, also it occurs after a reboot. It occurs at all times.

4. I have 2 potential applications that "MIGHT" impact the start menu.
a) Directory Opus Professional (A windows explorer replacement)
b) Display Fusion (Multi-monitor manager with support for start 10/11)

Aside from the two above and Start11 windows is a "standard" implementation of windows 11 64 bit Pro from Dell

Thank you for your interest.

Just as a test, please uninstall directory Opus and displayFusion, reboot and retest your issue. Report back here. You can reinstall those after the test.

Apparently it seems to be a display fusion issue.  I removed it first and the issue disappeared.
