Upgrade 3 to 4 multiple active install

Hi,

I do not clearly undertsand if the Upgrade of my Fences 3 product through "Own a prior version of Fences?" will allow me to install the new Fences 4 on my 3 computer like with my Fences 3 product. following the link below, i'm eligible to Fences 4 upgrade.

https://www.stardock.com/products/fences/download

But in the FAQ https://forums.stardock.com/508196/fences-4-upgrade-faq

How does this affect the Fences 4 product in Object Desktop?
Fences 4 will still have 5 concurrent activations as do all the other member products.

If I purchase Fences 4, can I get more licenses at a discount?
Yes, once you purchase Fences 4 (or any Fences 4 product), you will be able to get additional licenses at a discount using the 'upgrade' link on the product page(s):

So i'm not sure that the Fences 4 upgarde will provide me the 3 install capability.

Thanks,

Hi, I have the same question as socorsu.

I have Fences 3 as well and have it installed on 2 devices.

I am also eligible for an upgrade to Fences 4 according to your site, and no, I do not have have an Object Desktop subscription.

If I upgrade to Fences 4 will I only be able to have it installed on 1 device or up to 5 devices as with Fences 3?

Hello,

I have exactly the same question - I have a previous standalone version of Fences that I'm using on my laptops and desktop. I was just about to upgrade to Fences 4, but the FAQ is not clear on that. Will it be an upgrade or actually a downgrade?

I could understand if Fences 4 base is limited to 1 license, but that would mean that I will have to keep 4 out of 5 previous licenses after the upgrade! Losing access to all of them is unacceptable. Please respond.

I believe you have 2 option, One a Single active install and another 5 active install. as seen here : https://www.stardock.com/products/fences/download

Ok, i understand this statement, but do you have an upgrade proposal from 3 (5 active install) to Fences 4 - 5 active install ?

I only have the proposal of F3 to F4 1 active install.

Otherwise this is a really important increase of the price from F3 to F5. I can pay for the new version, but not 3 or 4 times the original price.

Actually, from what I understand Fences 3 was actually one activation per license, as mentioned in their EULA, just that it was never enforce than. While starting with Fences 4 they are enforcing it.

Regarding EULA why not, but my F3 was  bought for 5 installation and  the information from my user space is correct. So i do not understand ...

"3 current activations out of 5 total"

Hello,

You can raise a support ticket using the link below, include all your purchase details on your 5 installation license for Fences 3, Support will help you from there.

I didn't read the FAQ but naturally assumed upgrades from Start10 to Start11 and Fences 3 to Fences 4 would still have 5 licenses. I raised a ticket with support yesterday listing my product keys for them to investigate.

Not that it matters for this, but I just did edit the following from:

If I purchase Fences 4, can I get more licenses at a discount?
Yes, once you purchase Fences 4 (or any Fences 4 product), you will be able to get additional licenses at a discount using the 'upgrade' link on the product page(s):

to:

Yes, once you purchase Fences 4 (retail, not corp) you will be able to get additional licenses at a discount using the 'upgrade' link on the product page(s):

I did so as it gave the impression that corp was under the same discount guides as retail.

I also just added this as there seems to be some confusion on the matter and would seem to answer your main question:

If I had more than 1 concurrent activation with Fences 3, will that same count be included with an upgrade to Fences  4?
No, it will not, but discounts will be available forever for more licenses should you purchase them (explained below).

Sorry for the delay in making this clear.

Thank you for the clarification. Another question, is there an option which allow us to upgrade a 5 activation key from f3 to f4? Currently I can only find a upgrade option for single activation licenses. You know if we purchase 5 licenses using the upgrade discount ($7.99), the total cost ($39.95) is still higher than a brand new multi-device license ($29.99).

That is addressed with this part of the upgrade FAQ:

Do you provide greater discounts for higher quantities?
Fences now has a 5 pack option for activating multiple PCs on a single key.
https://www.stardock.com/products/fences4/download

There is no 'upgrade' pricing for the 5 pack as it is already heavily discounted.

As noted prior, if 5 is more than you need, one can purchase individual licenses at a perpetual discount if you already have a qualifying product (Fences 4 is, of course, one).

While Fences 4 For Business is not yet available, clients will be able to receive bulk discounts on purchases here:
