Display and usability problems I'm having using Start 11 on Windows 11 with 3 monitors

Before taking this screenshot I did the following:

-disabled DisplayFusion's control of the taskbar so there shouldn't be any conflicts.

-uninstalled Start11

-used the batch file to clean the settings

-rebooted my PC

-downloaded a fresh copy and installed it.

The three problems I'm having with Start11 (ver 1.01) on Windows 11 (ver 21H2, build 22000.376):

1. start menu shows up near the top of the screen when opened

2. Mouse hover on second and third monitor only makes the taskbar appear when hovered where the start button is, hovering over the rest of the task bar does nothing.  Can get the start menu to appear if your mouse pointer is anywhere on the second and third monitor and you press the windows key on the keyboard

3. Adjusting the task bar texture, task bar transparency and task bar texture transparency yields a different taskbar on the primary monitor versus what is shown on the second and third monitors.

Another reboot and the start menu location was initially solved but it moved back up the screen on the second attempt (after some startup files were loaded?)

I went into Start11 settings (not accessible via right-click on the start button like Start10?), then clicked "Restart explorer" on the Taskbar screen and that solved the floating start menu.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Just as a test, try instead of disable DisplayFusion, try uninstall it, you can reinstall it back when you're done testing. Reboot and retest it again. Report back here.

Hello, try to uninstall DisplayFusion and reinstall it, I had the same problem and it helped me, fortunately, just trying it may help, and if not, unfortunately I don't know what can be

If you have an autohide taskbar on Windows 11, it is a known issue with Windows 11 itself that it will sometimes decide to not unhide unless your mouse is in specific places.  This is not a problem caused by Start11.

Just went into Settings-Personalization-Taskbar

-turned off automatically hide the task bar

-turned off show my taskbar on all displays

-Turned them both back on

Now Start 11's texture background is showing as expected and identical on all three monitors.

Taskbar shows up on mouse-over as expected (sorta broken by windows where second and third taskbars only work if you hover over the start button location.)

The Start menu still shows at the top left corner when I click the start button

The Start menu does not show if the start button animations is still going. (click the start button constantly and you'll see what I mean)

did a reboot and now everything looks correct?

So some oddity where you have to (?):

-Go to Settings-Personalization-Taskbar

-turn off automatically hide the task bar

-turn off show my taskbar on all displays

-turn on automatically hide the task bar

-turn on show my taskbar on all displays

-reboot machine

a minute later the start menu went back to the top left of the screen.

This issue is only on the second and third monitors.

The Start menu does not show if the start button animations is still going. (click the start button constantly and you'll see what I mean)

Hopefully this is fixed when Microsoft releases the hidden taskbar fix in the next patch Tuesday (it's in the release notes)

BTW, have you tried the Start11 V1.11 Beta? As mention here : https://forums.stardock.com/509537

I just installed KB5008353 and it is a little better seems to have solved a couple of my problems.

How to get this update?  It will be available through windows update soon (next scheduled patch Tuesday) but you can get it now via the Microsoft Update Catalog. Just grab the correct version for your PC.

If you're having problems with Windows Update you can get it manually above.

Hidden task bar is now showing when hovering over all parts of the task bar on primary and secondary monitors

Taskbar backgrounds still not showing on secondary monitors*

*-had to do the following to get that to work after every reboot.

Settings-Personalization-Taskbar-Taskbar behaviors

-turned off automatically hide the task bar

-turned off show my taskbar on all displays

-turned them both back on

The start menu is still appearing in the top left of the screen after a minute or two.

What this means, at first boot the start menu is correct but starts opening to to the top left corner of my primary monitor after a minute or two.  Possibly something loads that is conflicting with Start11? (Displayfusion or PowerToys FancyZones?)\

Any update on this?

KB5010386 installed last night and caused a couple of reboots. I had to go into taskbar behaviours to turn off autohide then turn it back on for the taskbar textures on secondary monitors to work.

The start menu is still displayed top left on whichever monitor it appears on.

Yes. That's why I questioned the version nun met in my previous post.

I uninstalled, rebooted, then installed using the beta exe listed under my downloads on the stardock site.

I'll try again.

the file listed as Beta under my downloads was titled Start11_1.1.1.1-j124-Setup_sd.exe.  That is what I used to reinstall.  So the about screen version number doesn't reflect that it's beta or a build version?

I think I'm going to ask for a refund for my two copies.  This has wasted too much of my time.

We understand the frustration. Usually this happen because conflict of other Software or conflict with Windows 11 updates. Program like ObjectDock would also make this same issue. I wonder you have this program installed.

But, if youwish for refund, please raise a support ticket using the link below and pick the refund section : https://stardock.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/4
