Bugs in Start11 (and a question)

Hi,

I installed the trial of Start11 so I guess I am using the latest version. My OS is Win10 21H2.

I have several problems:

  • Settings do not seem to be saved. For example, I pick rounded corners, on the next click it will show the rounded corners and on the next click they will be sharp again
  • Sometimes the menu has no padding on the left side from the screen, it's locked directly at the edge of the screen, while there is some space below between the start menu and the task bar

Also, is it possible to remove the outline of the menu in the windows-11 design? especially on the corners it doesn't look very good and even slightly bugged.

I can provide screenshots once I get home to my machine.

Here are the aforementioned screenshots:

After some testing I think a few of these are due curtains being installed. However the ugly borders/outlines persists, as well as the menu not having any padding on the left side if using the "modern" layout...

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

I would try a uninstall and reinstall from your account with the latest  version.

Try that and report back here if that works for you.

I am running the latest win10 update - just downloaded/installed Start11 and would like to "center" the task bar .... however, the "right side" of the task bar which shows all "startup programs" (date, wifi, battery etc...) all are still fixed on the right ... The new Start11 will not "center" the "complete" task bar thus making the idea of "centering" mute.

Please fix this in an update - thanks

LIke I said, this was a fresh install. But just to make sure, i uninstalled and reinstalled again.

The same problems persist.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. You said you have Curtains installed, yes? If yes, does you apply Curtains style? And what style is that?

Thanks

Hi,

I use a theme I have created myself. But the problems persist even if I use the win10-base theme.
Can you post a screenshot of how it looks on your machine? It's weird that I am the only one with these problems?

Here is another screenshot: The modern layout doesn't have any padding on the left (and additionally weird looking corners), while the win10-design does have the padding.

One more thing/bug:

If you want to place a separating line above the shutdown-icon in modern design, it doesn't show, even if you place it correctly in the settings. I think this is because something is cut off and overlaps (you can see that something is cut off if you hover over the button above shutdown and then on shutdown, the top will not be rounded, indicating something cut off):

I believe when you have Curtains on and if you use Windows 7style or Modern Style in Start11. The Startpanel will follow your Curtains graphics. If the graphics that set in Curtains has rounded corner in your start panel it will show up there. If it don't, you will see the rounded corner for a few moment when you apply the rounded corner in Start11 but it will revert back to what ever style that come with curtains.

Also note that Win10 and Win11 style does not be control by Curtains. That might be the reason why you see the bigger gaps on Win10 style not on Modern Style. Curtains just control Win 7 and Win 8/Modern style only.

Thank you,

Like I said, the problems are unrelated to curtains as I have used the standard windows10 stylefor these screenshots...

I am confused, the screenshot you show us is not default Windows 10 theme. On my system with Curtains set to default Windows 10 the rounded corner look just fine.

Hi, what makes you think it is not the default theme? The transparency? This has been achieved via Start11 settings. (the very first screens were with curtains applied, that is true, but the latest were with the standard design)

Very weird, especially the missing padding. But I'll probably use the win11-style or win10-style anyway from now on, so I guess it's not that important...

Hello!

I have purchased Start11 and it mostly works great. Also the customisations are very much appreciated.

The thing I have an issue with is that the tag "New" is persistent under almost all program icons and does not disappear. I have made left/right click on the icon and restarted my computer.

Please confirm if this is a known issue. All the best.

End of kurci2's quote

New is shown on shortcuts less than 2 days old.

It will go away next time the list gets refreshed after that.

Thank you very much for your reply and help!

Maybe it would be a nice thing to add an option to hide "new" tag altogether or at least hide it once one clicks on the app for the first time.

All the best!
