Fences Not Recognizing Backups

Fences 3.1.3.3, Win10 10.0.19043

I was asked to create a new topic for this issue which may or may not be related to a failure of Fences to start because Win Explorer was improperly shut down. 

Purged Fences 3 by following the repair process described in that thread.  Reinstalled from new download from Stardock, and got through the license dialog and into Fences.  Purge hadn't cleared the Backups folder which contained a Pre-Install Snapshot and the recent daily backups (22-24 Nov).  Fences Layout & Snapping recognizes and displays only the Pre-Install Snapshot (consisting of both xml and png files) but none of the previous days' backups, which were just xml files, no pngs.  Any idea why and is there any way to use them?

No urgent for me since I've solved the immediate issue simply by recreating all the fences, portals and sorting rules from scratch.  I still have the custom colours and transparencies to do.  Clearly not optimal.

There may have been something corrupting the auto-snapshot function (the explorer crashes perhaps).  The most pressing question, however, is can you create \ restore snapshots now?

Snapshots are created daily successfully.  Do you have any recommendations for testing a Fences backup?  I suspect that taking an unscheduled one now, making a change, and restoring that backup would suffice.  Comments?

It is working fine at the moment.  Snapshot taken, fences moved, snapshot restored successfully.  I suspect my reinstalling Fences after that "...Windows Explorer crash..." error has solved the problem.
