Hi,

Since I upgrade to Windows 11, Fences crashes with error attached.
It seems to be incompatible with windows explorer now..

Please advise to fix it.

Thank you.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do you have Windowblinds or Curtains installed? Or something else which modify your Windows frame?

Thanks

Please uninstall WindowBlinds.  Version 10.x is not designed for Windows 11 and will cause crashes if installed.

Also it has that issue with the borders painting incorrectly due to a bug in the OS.

Yes, you are correct. I remove them and wait for an update of Stardock.

SoI assume it's Curtains, Fences and WindowBlinds which are the culprit. Or do I remove everything from Stardock and ask them for a compatible version for Windows 11?

Fences will be fine.

Curtains will not work properly on Win11 but will not crash anything.

WindowBlinds WILL crash explorer on Windows 11 and has that border issue.  It must be removed.

Without WB you will find Fences will no longer be crashing as it is detecting the crash of explorer as a problem.

Thank you Neil, well explained.

Do you know where I can write to StarDock to fix everything?

I suspect stardock to not fix windowblinds as curtains seems to be the replacement... so I think they will only fix curtains (that has so few options...).

For fences, the v4 is on the way, but you have to buy objectdesktop... let’s say it... I will wait... this is a robbery to buy this just for one software... I hope that they will let people, like me who have bought every programs, take it as single software.

I believe Fences V4 will be available for everyone sooner or later. At the very list it will be available for as stand alone purchase when it reach full official release. Fences V4 now is currently only its Alpha stage.

As for Windowblinds, already stated there will be a new version of Windowblinds somewhere in 2022-2023.

I don't think WindowsBlinds is the source of the problem in all cases. I don't have it installed on my machine and I'm getting the same Fences error as seen in the initial post (although it's in English).

Is there any program that can do what Windows Blinds does for Windows 11? The only thing I care about it making Excel look like it used to with a grey color in the cells.

Devs said that windowblinds will be there in 2022... I welcome, personnaly that...

I hate the blue everywhere we can see in windows... I don't understand why microsoft added this and not linked that to the accent color...

Maybe a future patch... But this is totally ugly

I hope windowblinds will permit us to fix that

Thank you for the reply. I'm hoping it's in January. I really miss it. I reinstalled Windows Blinds and used the  Plugged_In by DaveBax again, and uninstalled it right after, because for some reason even after uninstalling Windows Blinds, my excel sheets stay the grey color I like. It lasted a few days last time. Hopefully longer this time. I think as long I don't use control alt delete I think it stays. No idea why. I even tried a reboot and it stayed.
