Using Start11 in Windows 10

I only installed Start11 on a test laptop I have with Windows 11 installed.

But if I would install Start11 on my main Windows 10 desktop:

- Will Start11 copy my layout and apps from the Windows 10 start menu?

- When I upgrade Windows 10 (with Start11 already installed and organized) to Windows 11, will my layout and apps in Start 11 remain intact?

Start11 will not import the Windows 10 menu right now.

This is something we are looking at for the future, but it would require Start10 to support folders in the Windows 10 style menu which isn't something we currently have.  Once we do support those I would imagine we will import the current layout.

A clean install of Start11 on Windows11 however will import pinned items from the Windows 11 menu as there is no folder issue to worry about.

Anything you have set in Start11 prior to an upgrade to Win11 should not be impacted by an upgrade to Windows 11 as it is all stored in Stardock registry keys which the upgrade should not touch.

Thanks Neil, useful info!

I'll install Start11 on my main machine right away then as I prefer the Start11 Windows 10 style over the real Windows 10 start menu.

I'm not worried about it not importing my Windows 10 start menu layout/items, I'll make use of the opportunity to reorganise my start menu.

I really love we have multiple pages in your Windows 10 style and the visual and full screen enhancements look very nice.

Neil, is that feature available now, since some time has passed?  I installed Explorer Patcher, and emulating the Windows 10 start menu using that showed my old pinned items in Windows 11... but I want to have the native Windows 11 start menu, with my old pinned items.  I have the full screen of icons full and organized, so I really don't want to have to do it all over again in Windows 11.  I am now trying Start11 instead of Explorer Patcher, and it looks nice (I may stick with it instead of E.P.), but I really want my pinned items back. 😀
