Upgraded primary computer Controls secondary only when mouse plugged into secondary.

New replacement is Windows 10.  I installed Multiplicity and configured as primary, and connected to secondary.

The point does not appear, but as you move the mouse, a slight shadow appears to move across the screen.  If I plug a mouse into the secondary, the mouse pointer appears and is linked to the primary.  So far, it seems to be working normally, but having a mouse plugged into the secondary is not normal, is it?  Any ideas as to what is wrong?
