Start 11 Feedback

Unwanted items show in All Programs

I have installed release candidate 1 for Start 11 and although it's pretty good in general I am really frustrated that there is no way to stop all the standard Windows Apps/Programs from showing in the 'All Programs' list.

I like to arrange my shortcuts myself into folders "Graphics, Office, Video etc" I really don't like having to scroll down through all the Microsoft rubbish until I can find my folders at the bottom of the list..

I have uninstalled Start 11 and am testing an alternative, I would like to go back to Start 11 but with an option to hide everything but my program shortcut folders which reside in my start menu.

This depends on the menu style you are using.

If you are using the Windows 7/Modern styles then the folder layout is stored on the HD in the usual programs folders.  You are free to rearrange these as you see fit.

By default we show the universal apps in the main list, but these can be put into a separate folder by enabling an option in settings for All programs list.

I have tried to find the setting to move the universal apps into a folder but cannot find it. Where is this setting please??

Then what has happened to the option that was available in Start8 and Start10 to apply a texture to the background of the Start Menu. It's available for the Taskbar in this version but not the Menu?????

It is still there.

Click the dropdown under the Windows 7 style and pick settings from the menu (under the four top level modes - compact , grid etc).  This should open up a page with lots of options.

The universal apps option is on that page under the all programs section, the background will be under the customize menu visual appearance option.

Thanks that's sorted, I missed the dropdown menu from the style menu.

Only other thing the background for the Quick Access Side Shortcuts is white and I cannot find any setting to change it to Texture or a colour, preferably dark. can you help me with that?

I am running Start 11 using the Windows 10 tile option.  It is great.  However, I would like to pin individual folders to Start 11.   It does not seem like we get that option when right-clicking a folder.   Would like to see this for web pages in edge as well. I know I am one of the few who like and organize the Win 10 tiles.  There is a lot of real estate on the screen.  Having the folders especially pinned to Start 11 would be a great convenience.

If you can right click on your folder and send to desktop to create a shortcut, at this point you can change its icon if you wish. Then right click the shortcut and pin to Start 11.

I think that should work.

Forgot to say, you can delete the shortcut off the desktop or save it somewhere else once it is pinned to Start 11.
